Didn’t notice that pashin was grimaldi small. Yeh teams tend to stray from that small of prospects since the NHL as a whole has been trending towards prototypical power forward types.

Bokk reminds me a lot of Tolvanen and while that’s an interesting piece it’s too much boom or bust for my taste.

Honestly I viewed the main piece being Bean and the pick and I thought that was fine from Nashville’s perspective. I thought Gardiner was a cap casualty to even out the cap hits since he’s being paid a huge amount for a 3rd pairing role. If there’s a different cap dump of sorts that’s similar in cap I’d be game personally.

I'm going to go backwards here because I could gladly talk about Pashin for hours.

Gardiner has been on the ice for 3 of the Canes 5 even strength goals so far. He's not a "cap casualty". He's a very good offensive defenseman. He didn't even have a down year last year and people started trying to murder him because he was a big minus. He's not scored a point in a Canes win since the David Ayres game (in the regular season). While I know that isn't a large sample size, it does show you that he is VERY important to this team in the way that he plays. If you're looking for a cap casualty, someone like Niederreiter may be more desirable. He's having an up year so far, and his value may help contribute to a player package like this.

Bokk is very talented. He's a good player and I don't think that he's as boom or bust as Tolvanen. He's got that great shot, which will make him a desirable piece to anyone.

Pashin dropped because he's shorter than most players sticks. Not because he's a 7th round talent. A lot of scouts had him going in round 2. He fell to pick 199. He wasn't expected to be that low.

Clearly you're a big fan of Pashin, and that's great! I get the feeling he was on your radar even before the draft, and it's awesome when your fav team selects a prospect you're already a fan of. It's just that if any GM felt he was worth being selected in the 2nd round, someone would have taken him then, or shortly after. 31 NHL teams (including CAR) didn't feel that way. That's not to say he can't/won't make it or that his stock won't rise as he develops, but if you're thinking his trade value right now is close to a 2nd, I'm afraid it's not. He hasn't played nearly enough since the draft (no one has) for opinions to change that drastically on any prospect.

I'm pretty high on Gunler, and he was on my shortlist of prospects I hoped NSH would take in the 2nd round. Bokk seems like much less of a sure thing to me. To each their own. But yeah, to me neither would be an ideal main piece for Arvidsson. Given that NSH still sees themselves as a contender (I have serious doubts about that, and wish they started a rebuild at the last deadline) and made moves in that direction this summer, trading Arvidsson isn't likely at all right now anyway. Maybe in the offseason or at the deadline if they bottom out, but they have to give the current lineup a chance first.

Every single mock draft I could find had him going no later than 45th. He fell 144 places. That's not because he's bad, it's because he's smaller than Grimaldi. He was on a line with Amirov, and with the New Jersey pick who's name I cannot spell. He wasn't someone I particularly cared about. He would have been a good 2nd round pick. I could have seen him falling to the 4th or 5th. But to the 7th is beyond a steal. EVERYONE knows his talent level. He's got genuine top 6 upside, and should NEVER have fallen like he did. He's already playing with the MHL right now. 31 games played and 38 points, and just playing with people. He's incredible.

Gunler sounds like someone you rated highly, which might be why you see the difference between the two, but the truth is, Bokk may even be better. Bokk (on a significantly worse team) tallied far better at his last WJC's than Gunler did this year, yes I know Bokk was a year older and we'll see what Gunler does next year, but that's not a good start for the swede. Bokk's domestic play has struggled, but he's been so badly misused, it's beyond a joke. He's on the 3rd line and being told to play as a grinder, which harms his talent more than it could ever help his development.
