You dont buy out Okposo if it is only giving you an extra million in cap space. Overall you save 1 million in 2021/2022, and 3 million in 2022/2023, but acquire a 1 million hit in both 02023/2024 and 2024/2025. That is a contract not worth buying out.

and Dahlin and Jokiharju will be getting more than that. Dahlin 8 plus, Jokiharju 3.5 to 4.5. You have them slated in as your top pair for a reason. If Reinhart plays the rest of the year with Hall and Eichel, he should also be getting 7 million, maybe more.

Real cash owed would be 3 million and 4 million, while having a cap hit of 6 million. Several teams, most noteably the sens, acquire contracts like this to hit the floor, or just to get the asset.

Sens took on stepan with a much lower money owed than cap hit this past offseason.
