I read somewhere that the quarantine protocols are somewhat dissuading some claims, especially those across the Canadian border. What's the point in waiting two weeks for a guy to arrive on your roster just to be spare parts? You're losing any marginal competitive advantage by not having access to that player for 6-8 games.

Nedeljkovic's numbers aren't particularly flattering, especially considering how good the Checkers have been over the past couple seasons. Almost every team has a prospect goaltender on par with what he's done, be it in the AHL, Europe, or Russia. He's not at the kind of caliber where you make claiming him a priority.

Seems like a trade could have been made instead of losing him on waivers for nothing.
I think Edmonton would pay a price for the piece of mind knowing they could get a goalie rather than hope no-one else ahead of them places a waiver claim on him.
