CBJ is not including Dubinsky to any Dubois trade with the intention of hindering his value - it's just stupid asset management. Not to mention MTL can't afford taking Dubinsky, as part of the protocol of acquiring LTIR bound players is that they must be activated for a while when acquiring them, which MTL can't do.
Danault is unlikely to sign long-term with CBJ and it can't be added to the value he brings. It's naive, and NHL banned the conditional picks of this regard. So technically what CBJ is gaining here guaranteed one year of Danault, Mete and two first rounders. While a package of nice value, it doesn't add up to what Dubois is.
The only player from MTL that makes sense for CBJ is Kotkaniemi, as they need a replacement center. Try Kotkaniemi+1st and go from there, add Byron to even out the money and compensate CBJ from taking that overpaid contract.
