Description
Please help me understand the value EDM fans have for Korpi and Elvis. Which CBJ goalie would you prefer?

***I KNOW THIS TRADE IS NOT REALISTIC AT ALL***

I just want to know how far apart the value would be.
i know Leon is untouchable.

Honestly, anything shy of Dubois plus Werenski with Edmonton adding doesn't do it for me. And I know it doesn't do it for the Jackets.

If the Panthers are genuinely shopping Barkov, and they want Yandle off the books, there might be more there for the Jackets regarding a Dubois trade than overpaying for Draisaitl.

Not at all, I think PDL is way better defensively than Draisaitl and if he was in a more offensive system, he would produce more than he has. He's also younger and this would get you a defenceman who can actually defend as well as 2 firsts. This is a good trade for Edmonton.

I agree, still gets a huge proportion of points while playing with McDavid and he is awful defensively.

Overall, PLD may be "better" at D but he will never produce offensively like Draisaitl. Draisaitl may over rated into he sense of him being the 3rd best center, I think he's a top 10 center but yea he's been ranked a little high there. However, his D game is criminally under rated. It's unbelievable. To say it's anything less then average is laughable. I actually watch the Oilers and the only time he looks bad is when he takes long shifts and can't skate back. He's great on the pk when he plays, constantly getting sticks in lanes and at 5v5 consistently body's and strips the puck away. I don't care who are, you're all a bunch of bandwagoners trashing his D game. Makes you feel good about your team when you can find something to use in a negative way about other teams clear super stars.

Draisaitl may not be a "franchise" player. But please list how many teams have one? He's still among the most elite in the league and is without the best player in the trade today and for 10-15 years.

Savard in his prime is 100% a "huge" upgrade over KoeKoek, however KK is younger and is actually pretty solid so the "huge" upgrade isn't there. I would agree to a slight upgrade and even then is it worth saying it "balances" the trade or even creates more value significantly at all? Not a chance.

Korpi is a obvious upgrade.

Those two firsts form CLB have a pretty chance of becoming pretty high picks so yea there is some decent value there. But picks are picks, those picks could or could land any legit player and even then they could take 2-5 years to make an impact at all.

The team receiving the best player wins the trade. CLB receives the best player.

CLB doesn't laugh they, they start dancing around because they can't believe EDM would offer Draisaitl.

However, they counter, Draisaitl + Koskinen for PLD + korpi + 1st and a 2nd.

Oilers decline because they realised why would the ever trade there 2nd best 100 point line driving center for a buy who's reached 60 points once and hasn't got close to that any other time and for a goalie when they can sign a UFA this offseason and even then I think Holland should trade for G but they could probably get Korpi without trading any key peices. Not to mention those picks... Are they rebuilding or something?

Those would be 15-20 range of 1st rounders and PDL is hands down way better defensively. Draisaitl and McDavid are not average defensively, they are below average but are so good offensively it makes up for it. Thinking you would get more than this for Draisaitl is just homerism. It's not bandwagon anti Oiler stuff. It's just a smart hockey move. I doubt Columbus would do this.

I know but you also said Draisaitl is underrated defensively. He is not, if anything people don't talk enough about how bad both him and McDavid are defensively. So it's clear you are heavily biased.

So do I, not as often as I'd like and believe me, my negativity towards there team is not born of malice or emotions against the team, I genuinely want them to succeed. I am a fan of their team, I just see their flaws. I've seen them since the year after they had that playoff run.

At that time, I said the Oilers were too slow and were going to have big problems, I was called an idiot and told they would win the west. They missed the playoffs. The year after I said, I don't see any improvements. Again I was called insane, although many hockey people started saying the same thing and they again missed the playoffs. Last season I didn't like their game at all. Sure they found some success but they were terrible at 5v5 and that just doesn't work in the playoffs. (The playins were a crap shoot and I don't put too much stock in those results).

This season Edmonton could finish anywhere from 2nd to 6th and nothing would really surprise me. They have some talented players but they also have huge flaws. It can't be denied they are not good defensively and their 5v5 play is just not good enough. Their star players are happy to trade chances because often they will come out on top but long term and in the playoffs that will cost them. I just haven't seen a commitment from them to get better defensively and it comes from the success they have doing what they do. Unfortunately it won't lead to long term success.

Now as for this trade proposed, it is a slam dunk win for the Oilers. They get way better in net and younger, and get 2 1st rounders while taking a small downgrade at forward. And I am not sure it's even a downgrade. PDL may not score as many points as Draisaitl but he certainly would keep a lot more out of your net.

No they won't. You will, but Holland won't.

I would be elated to see a trade for a goalie with a .941 playoff sv%.

What is it with you and small sample sizes? Do you think Farabee is going to challenge for the Art Ross this year too?? It's been one game. Sheesh.

I hear what your saying and I see where you're coming from and I just don't agree with the defensive analysis. I think their better defensively then what they get credit for. Already after watching these first two games they have improved. I know it's inky two games but this offseason they have both dressed how important it is for them to be better decisively overall. Which does play into what people say but again it's not as bad, I think people exaggerate to much. And I think PLD is a downgrade, Drai offence out weighs PLDs D significantly. Until PLD can put up at the very least 80 plus points for consecutive seasons hes not even in the same league. The goaltending is an upgrade especially at the age. And the firsts are crap shoot, they could end up nothing, unless the first is top 10 your not guaranteed anything from anywhere between 2-5 years.

Especially with how the Oilers have drafted recently
