personally both suzuki and Kotkaniemi will be better than PLD. PLD defencive stats are because of tortz

even take defence out of the equation if you want he's still better. You can make an argument that Suzuki is on a similar trajectory but Kotkat has done nothing big yet in the NHL. Hasn't even accomplished solid 3rd line production yet and its his third year in the league. Ceiling is a 2nd line center.

And I'm not a Habs hater. This is just realistic

What your failing to understand is that your getting a player further along on his development at a similar age. Bottom line is that if Suzuki or KK must be moved for him, your team will still be better. Suzuki will probably reach Dubois level and KK doesn’t have a sliver of hope to reach Dubois level. If you trade Suzuki for him now, it’s a forward move right now and might be a lateral move a few years down the line. But Suzuki may also not reach Dubois level. PLD is already PLD with one or two years left of improvements but Suzuki isn’t PLD yet. He could reach there and I think he will, but why wouldn’t you just take the established player
