Bogosian tipped the puck in on the 1st goal and Matthews got a post so bounces went both ways. I really don't like how the refs just let Weber and Chariot chop away at Matthews back, that's Bush league

I agree, poor AM he got messed up in front

He had a couple hits and that one nice shot but otherwise yeah not disciplined. But I still approve of the signing and think he'll be alright.

He better get better than that game.

Ok Danault was completely gassed on that breakaway. I though Drouin's breakaway on that PP (the one where they scored later on a 2nd breakaway) was embarassing

It was a great game, the penalties were given both ways - no issue there.

It's the unfortunate goal that pissed me off.
Also the leafs' PP is lethal H.O.L.Y S.H.I.T

yeah every time Matthews circles back for a shot on the PP I'm crapping my pants for the guy going to block it lol. I'm usually quite critical of Anderson and the hype but he looked solid tonight as well.

Suzuki is amazing
Anderson IS the power forward that we were looking for
That’s a good thing
And Romanov looked really good

Bad things :
Didn’t like Danault today
Kotkaniemi was not winning is faceoff
Evans was soft
Armia was lazy
Edmundson was horrid
Weber needs to keep is head up

What a total nonsense response. Matthews had nothing but pushback, marner never batted an eye, Nylander and JT didn't back down and what did they do? Worked their way back from a 2 goal deficit and won. That is a gritty win. "But they didn't hit people" what a load of crap.

gritty win? This is supposedly the best team in the division remember? How did they find themselves chasing all night and into OT on what is considered one of the worst teams in the division.
But it's ok, I know you are just trying to troll an argument and probably didn't even watch the game.

Matthews was throwing hits. They didn't turtle. Bottom 6 looked fine. Mikheyev - Kerfoot - Hyman looked good. Barabanov looked good. Simmonds looked great. Spezza looked fine too.

Matthews threw a knee on knee, was accredited with an official 0 hits. Because other than that he didn't really hit anyone.

Barabrov played 4 minutes. We done there?
Bottom 6 looked bad. Thornton had no business getting 17 minutes of ice time.

I think both teams could have used an actual preseason lol, that being said the refs are in mid season form, missed calls below:

Thought the penalty on Anderson was soft, refs allowed the leafs back into the game. Vesey initiated contact and Anderson just powered through him. Soft call.

There were some missed calls the other way too, I just don't have videos, Cross Checks on Matthews (although Matthews broke his stick over Chiarot after the whistle earlier so probably even), trip on Mikheyev breakaway definitely effected his shot, trip on Muzzin early in the game.

The missed calls are pretty much even, it's the soft Anderson call that gets me.

Edit: Then the refs nice assist for the tying goal... but the refs are in play can't fault them there justa bad bounce.

He literally said that there were missed calls both ways and even gave examples. He's not blaming the refs for the loss, just saying that they were bad.

Montreal has been picked as the 2nd best by many. It was also the first game and was sloppy at times. The gritty win is, not giving up, fighting back and coming back to win. But a pens fan jumping in to **** talk the Leafs is definitely not a troll.

yeah ok, I'm over here **** talking the leafs.....as half the leafs fans on here are like "damn...Thornton looks old and slow, he has no business on the 1st line" and you said that was **** talking too.
But yeah, it wasn't, it was just facts.
No one is **** talking anything, but being honest about it. They didn't have a gritty win. They struggled against a team they were so much better than. And you got excuses.
At least I can take some objective opinions on things. You are straight out into homerism trolling.

Thorton looked fine, I liked his game. He makes a lot of little plays with the puck that will go unnoticed but he was solid. Didn't look out of place at all.

Well unlike trolls like you, I am not expecting Thorton to be flying up and down the ice and dominating play. He's freaking 41. But he is big, still has really good hands and can pass with the best of them. He can cycle the puck well and is a load to handle in front. I have no problems with him playing 15-17 minutes a night.

yeah no one cares as he gets moved down to 3rd and then 4th line and garbage minutes because he can't skate and all of TOR knows it now.

That was literally the plan by Keefe. He said prior to the game that Thorton's minutes would be managed. He didn't get moved down because you think he's slow. He was moved down because that is the plan.
