At least your 5.5 mil winger doubled his goal total from last season in one game! Who knew a 1.6 shooting % was unsustainable for his whole career.

yep. I can admit he looked pretty good. Will he sustain it and live up to the hype and contract and trade? I don't know, I'm still very hesitant. But he played well. He can get a promotion in my bio.

oh come on you can't even blame this game on the refs. Leafs had more shots, time on attack, drew some pretty obvious penalties, etc. MTL played a great, intense game as well but I don't think its reasonable to whine about this game to be quite honest. I don't mean to sound harsh when I said "whine" I just can't think of a better word so consider that a less harsh version of whine

Drouin-Suzuki-Anderson will be our first line
Tatar-Danault-Gallagher 2nd line

Bogosian tipped the puck in on the 1st goal and Matthews got a post so bounces went both ways. I really don't like how the refs just let Weber and Chariot chop away at Matthews back, that's Bush league

One thing that will always annoy me about Julien & 3-on-3s, is Shea ****ing Weber. He's lethal in pretty much every situation, but in overtime the guy is just getting shifted all the time.

Yeah they need to tighten up a few things but all in all they looked good. I really didn't like Bogosian, he was garbage.

also Bogosian might have gotten the softest holding call of all time against him. It was a two way street with posts and penalties and all that stuff

I think going from 5v5 to 3v3 was in TOR favor. They got rid of the old slow players off the ice and could limit their bad defense off the ice as well.
They basically circled their top 4 forwards and 2 best defense.

Advantage TOR there.
So not surprising. What I do think is that TOR is going to take a pounding and there isn't much they can do about it. Even rolling out Simmonds every game isn't going to stop it.
There is still no pushback in their top 6. Not a single guy with any real fight in them there. Games get heavy and they start to turtle.
I will give some props to AM this game though. He's becoming really strong on the dot, that favors TOR. But I still don't see this team being more than 3rd or 4th place. Not with that defense and the bottom 6.

He had a couple hits and that one nice shot but otherwise yeah not disciplined. But I still approve of the signing and think he'll be alright.

Matthews was throwing hits. They didn't turtle. Bottom 6 looked fine. Mikheyev - Kerfoot - Hyman looked good. Barabanov looked good. Simmonds looked great. Spezza looked fine too.

What a total nonsense response. Matthews had nothing but pushback, marner never batted an eye, Nylander and JT didn't back down and what did they do? Worked their way back from a 2 goal deficit and won. That is a gritty win. "But they didn't hit people" what a load of crap.

I think both teams could have used an actual preseason lol, that being said the refs are in mid season form, missed calls below:

Thought the penalty on Anderson was soft, refs allowed the leafs back into the game. Vesey initiated contact and Anderson just powered through him. Soft call.

There were some missed calls the other way too, I just don't have videos, Cross Checks on Matthews (although Matthews broke his stick over Chiarot after the whistle earlier so probably even), trip on Mikheyev breakaway definitely effected his shot, trip on Muzzin early in the game.

The missed calls are pretty much even, it's the soft Anderson call that gets me.

Edit: Then the refs nice assist for the tying goal... but the refs are in play can't fault them there justa bad bounce.

It was a great game, the penalties were given both ways - no issue there.

It's the unfortunate goal that pissed me off.
Also the leafs' PP is lethal H.O.L.Y S.H.I.T
