Two 1st Round Draft Picks:
- Jesper Wallstedt (G)
- Simon Edvinsson (D)
(BUF let’s both Swedish prospects have at least 1 year (likely 2) in the SHL before bringing them over to North America)
Skinner Buyout:
- Skinner’s buyout is very good actually, even though long term, only charges BUF 1.4 annually. This frees up some cap and gives BUF cap flexibility
- Rasmus Dahlin (8.5 x 8)
Dahlin is BUF’s guy defensively and there’s no question. You try to lock him up
- Mike Hoffman (7 x 3)
After taking a 1 year deal with STL, he finally gets his payday, allthough only 3 years. He gets 7 million annually. He gets a top line role, and can be an offensive juggernaut.
- Sam Reinhart (6.5 x 5)
Reinhart is also someone who should be here long term, and with both Eichel and Hall gone, will be relied on in the Top 6
- Linus Ullmark (4 x 1)
Ullmark extends for only 1 year as he gets an identical deal as Merzilkins, likely BUF only rolls with one of Ullmark / Merzilkins year after.
- Niklas Hjarmarsson (3.5 x 2)
Another Swedish presence for Dahlin, Hjarmarsson ups for 2 years as a defensive heavy player, good contrast to the high offence of Ristolainen
- Henri Jokiharju (2.4 x 2)
Unlike the longer term deals which were given out ^^, Jokiharju takes a shorter term, prove me deal with BUF, as he has breakout potential.
- Tyler Ennis (2.15 x 2)
After 3 years of taking team friendly deals, Ennis takes a moderate payday with BUF. After getting flipped by BUF at the deadline, a handshake agreement is made that he returns in free agency
- Derrick Brassard (2.15 x 2)
Brassard takes an identical deal to Ennis, as he makes another attempt to revive his career in a pretty much guaranteed top 6 role, with talented wingers.
- Rasmus Asplund (1.25 x 2)
After this season hopefully Asplund proves himself as a Bottom 6 level NHLer at the least, next season he can work to prove himself as a middle six player.
- Braydon Coburn (1 x 1)
After a year in OTT mainly used for a veteran presence in the locker room, he signs in BUF with the same role. Likely a scratch on most nights in favour to Lehtonen, but will see plenty of games.
- Mikko Lehtonen (1 x 1)
After making his NHL debut with the Leafs, Lehtonen gets another chance to prove himself with the Sabers in a bottom pairing role.
- John Jason Peterka (925k x 3)
After spending a full season in Europe, Peterka comes over on an ELC to take a spot with the Rochester Americans and develops within the organization, getting Peterka used to North American ice & lifestyle as well.
- Jonathan Dahlen (925k x 1)
Dahlen has been playing out of his skill level in the Allsvenskan for the past few years and seemingly refused to come over to North America. BUF would be his 4th NHL organization. BUF likely signs him to try him out at training camp, if he doesn’t impress nor plays any NHL games, back to Europe.
- CJ Smith (850k x 1)
Depth player, depth signing, decent potential, possible bottom 6 player, not much else to say.
- In a situation like this current ‘21 season, Edmonton could have as easy to a path to the Final 4 then ever before, without having to overcome one of Colorado or Vegas to get there. If there team is at the position at the deadline where they are top 2 in the North, I could see this possible go through
- The 4th spot in the West division is wide open, San Jose had a weirdly poor performance last year and is a candidate to have a bounce back year, SJS could add defence at the deadline to help them out
3.
BUF
Choix de 5e ronde en 2022 (PIT)
Détails additionnels:
(DONE AT DEADLINE)
PIT
Tyler Ennis
- Taking an assumption that PIT will likely have Top 6 injury troubles again, Ennis could be a good deadline acquisition. With the Hall trade to EDM, Ennis falls out of the rotation there and is sent to BUF. However, shown primarily in the bubble play ins Ennis plays great with star level players, and could be a great fit alongside a Crosby or Malkin
BUF & CBJ pull off a blockbuster that swaps two disgruntled, top line centers. With Eichel being on another level then Dubois at the moment, CBJ is forced to add Merzilkins who will tandem with Ullmark as he did with Korpisalo. KHL prospect Kirk Marchenko who reportingly drew interest across the league and a 1st round pick. Going the other way, BUF tacks on Finnish prospect Ruostalainen, as Kekalainen would like having another finn in the system
In a surprising, likely unrealistic move here MIN & BUF swap top centre prospects. Rossi to BUF makes sense because of Jack Quinn. Two 67’s prospects reunite. Mittlestadt to MIN makes sense because he hasn’t clicked in BUF, but also he returns to his hometown in MIN. Also, in MIN they have a rather weak center core, so Mittlestadt has all the opportunity in the world to move up the lineup
If the Sharks were contending I think it's fair. It's a little weird not having a 2nd or 3rd in this scenario, but Wilson is always competitive. Some people are super high on Dahlen, I think with Leonard's emergence and Blichfeld and Chmelevski he is pretty expendable for the Sharks
"Prospect A is going to be the best defenceman in the league" signs him for a max term deal way below the market value for that designation.
The next line will be "he cares more about winning".
Dahlin is going to get 10+ on am 8 year deal. But likely just get a 2-3 year bridge with a massive final year. Those are the rage right now but will be trouble 3 years from now.
Eichel demands that whole trade plus more let alone adding Arttu
I think Reinhart is probably out. Futures or to fill a hole, like on d. I'm gonna assume hall and eichel are fantastic together and hall is amenable to an extension. Never liked ennis, no need to get the band back together.

You clearly put a lot of work into this so good job on that. Eichel isn't going to be traded but in a hypothetical situation he would command more than that. If the destination is Columbus: Dubois, Bjorkstrand, 1st, Foudy/Marchenko/Chinakov.
Because apparently this needs to be repeated constantly on this website, just because someone is from Minnesota, that doesn't mean we want them. There is no way I see us trading Rossi for Mittelstadt and a 1st in what will likely be the biggest crapshoot draft of all time. I don't see any reason we would want to trade for him, especially if it requires us giving up an actually good player in the process.
