Suite aux rumeurs à l’effet que Tony DeAngelo signerait une entente avec les @CanadiensMTL plusieurs sources me confirment que c’est faux. Il ne jouera pas à MTL la saison prochaine. @TVASports
My thoughts on Montréal’s cap situation going into tomorrow:
Edit: Well it appears my Armchair GM team got turned into a forum thread. For reference the stuff that was cut out is Poehling signing league minimum (not on the roster) and KK and Lehkonen both signing with cap hits of $2.5 million. The team had $13.5 million in cap space.
(If we trade Kulak)
$5 million on a C
$5 million on a top 4 RHD
$3 million on a bottom pair RHD
$1 million on Perry
$1 million on Wideman
If we don’t trade Kulak:
$5 million on a C
$5 million on a top 4 RHD
$1.5 million on a bottom pairing RHD
$1 million on Perry
$1 million on Wideman
Keeping Kulak, if the Savard rumours are true:
$5 million on a C
$3.5 million on Savard
$2 million on a bottom pairing RHD
$1 million on Perry
$1 million on Wideman
$750K on Paquette
The habs could probably spend up to $9 million on one player if they went really cheap on the other open slots, but I’d say that that scenario is extremely unlikely.

Great analysis, though which FA center gets 5mil not named Danault?
So with Barrie off the market and Hamilton likely out of our price range, the habs will probably have to look at the trade market for an offensive RHD.
So few options for offensive RD... maybe Wideman is their guy, a la Gustafsson, even if it wasnt an ideal situation... and maybe they settle for a two-way D like Soucy that can play RD
Double shift Petry on PP? Retry Romanov? Go for 5 forwards with Drouin being the QB in PP2?
Still curious to see who Bergevin is targetting at C

As the team stands right now, Drouin is probably the QB on the 2nd unit.
I'm certainly curious about Byron's post yesterday... I wonder if he's going to be traded
That’s not the way I took it, but I guess it could be a possibility? The only reason to trade him would be if we signed Dougie Hamilton or traded for Eichel, since no other player would break our cap situation.
So it seems like the Paquette & Savard rumours are true, with Savard on a 4 year deal. Hoping league minimum for Paquette, and the Edmundson contract for Savard.
Savard 4 x 3.5
Paquette 1 x 950k
Dea 1 x 750k
Belpedio 1 x 750k
Wideman 1 x 750k
not bad so far.
Dea replaces Blandisi.
Belpedio replaces Olofsson.
Paquette replaces Staal/Frolík.
Wideman replaces Gustafsson.
Savard is either a downgrade on Weber or an upgrade on Merrill, depending on what else the habs do.
