Easy no from Calgary. Trouba isn't good value at 8m. Please have some respect for Trouba's NMC......you have to know a trade to Calgary ain't happening.

CGY is not doing this deal for a few reasons.

1) Tkachuk
2) Trouba chose to leave WPG, a playoff contender, for the US. CGY isn't going to target a guy who could want out within a few years (or ASAP, see NMC comment from @palhal above)
3) I don't think the value is high enough for CGY by a good margin.

If Tkachuk was gonna leave then coming back better be Panarin or at least 2 of Laf/Kakko/Shesty. He's an elite player, one of the best agitators in the league, draws a lot of penalties, leader of the team, and very skilled at creating offense, despite playing with meh linemates (Backlund's pretty average, Frolik was just bad, Mangiapane was good, but perspective is important, he was good for a rookie). Trouba's deal is a hindrance, he's good but not 8mil for 6 more years good, I'd rather keep Hanifin and his good contract for a top 4 D (plus we already have 2 top 4 RD and we'll need Hanifin to still fill a top 4 LD hole with Valimaki when Gio slows down). Kravtsov has kinda fallen off honestly, he hasn't been impressive for the last year and a half or so. A late 1st isn't tipping the scales at all.

No. Too much risk in Kakko and Kravstov and even a 1st. Only sure piece is Trouba and he’d block with his NMC. Having Tkachuk takes almost every single trade you can realistically imagine off the table. Swap in Gaudreau and convince Trouba to play in Calgary, you have a deal IMO. Not a fan of giving up Hanifin, but for another good D, a mid-1st, top 10 pick and top 3 pick I could live with it
