Might need a bit of help value wise.
Also which of Crosby ad Malkin go to the wing?

I know it is far from likely but if JR is serious about keeping the window open...

Can anyone tell me where they get more value? Especially with the trade request that would proceed this?
If you want to argue that this particular mixture isn't right then fine but the overall value is close.

Quality over quantity

They were pure dumps, one made it 20 games into the season in Berglund. Don’t try to tel me how the assets were viewed. And who are these “sources”. People with no names. This trade doesn’t get it done period. Quality over quantity or Eichel is told to play in Buf period

They ended up being pure dumps, but on trade day they weren't. Don't try and act like they weren't.

Bob MacKenzie, Elliot Friedman, etc. The big boys. You're just burying your head in the sand if you think there isn't something here.

As I've said multiple times, I can understand that argument and if I were a fan I'd want a package more like that too. The NHL and Buffalo in particular tend to sway towards quantity over quality (recently the hall trade did this to a lesser extent) and I think this would be a competitive offer they would consider. As this is an agm from the pgh angle I have them going with this.

Thats not what these posters are arguing for though. They're saying the overall value was off and I don't think it is.

Berglund’s only redeeming quality was his leadership at that point and Sobotka was a coming off a 31 point season, both with cap hits over 3M. They were cap dumps to make the trade work. The GMs even said as much. And until there’s a direct quote, it’s purely speculation. Also, 4/5 in this thread have said the exact same thing as me. Quality over quantity.

Let’s put it this way, if the penguins came at the leafs with this offer for matthews would you take it? I’m assuming not. Both players are super young and elite 1Cs and they don’t grow on trees

I actually never said that. I even said I don’t know much about some of the guys but you threw 7 assets in, trying to total the sum.

Same for you pal. They were both dumps. I will bet all my internet points that if Eichel is dealt it won’t be in a 7-1 deal

I never said I would take it. I just said that I would prefer quality over quantity too.
What I have been arguing this entire time is that the overall value is there and that it is a competitive offer that buf management would consider. I understand why they don't like it as fans, what I disagree with is their saying the actual trade value isn't there. I think the Sabres would consider this on par and as this agm is from the angle of a potential Pittsburgh future I have buf going with this offer.

Maybe it’s decent value wise and I get it’s an ACGM so like I don’t wanna like ruin ur fun or anything cuz people do that too much but in the end I think Buffalo would most likely decline

Sure. As I've said 100 times in this thread i can understand them preferring some other combo of the value (less players more prospects, or less prospects more players, etc). I just think this is in the realm of possibility value wise and an offer that could be made. And looking at previous Buffalo trades would any of us be surprised if Buffalo goes with a trade closer to this structure?

What I've been arguing against the while time is the people who say the value isn't there when it is from a business perspective.
If I were a buf fan I'd be pissed at this, but from an uninterested nhl hockey man perspective this seems on par.

This is all about perspective. I looked at that trade and said Eichel ISN'T worth all that... He has no cups, scoring titles, playoff wins, etc. Yes, he's very good, but doesn't have the accolades. He also doesn't play in a big market, so he doesn't have the notoriety that players like Matthews, McDavid, Ovechkin, etc. have. Buffalo would accept this trade, if they were thinking of trading him, only because they're not going to get much better offer for him.

Everyone of the players going to Buffalo would improve the team. Individually, they're not on the same level as Eichel, but combined, they will help the team win games. The draft picks help sweeten the deal.

All this being said, we all know that if he was on any other team, he's worth twice this amount, but I don't think Buffalo would get that back. I also don't think Pittsburgh would offer that deal for him, but that wasn't the question.
