This is all about perspective. I looked at that trade and said Eichel ISN'T worth all that... He has no cups, scoring titles, playoff wins, etc. Yes, he's very good, but doesn't have the accolades. He also doesn't play in a big market, so he doesn't have the notoriety that players like Matthews, McDavid, Ovechkin, etc. have. Buffalo would accept this trade, if they were thinking of trading him, only because they're not going to get much better offer for him.
Everyone of the players going to Buffalo would improve the team. Individually, they're not on the same level as Eichel, but combined, they will help the team win games. The draft picks help sweeten the deal.
All this being said, we all know that if he was on any other team, he's worth twice this amount, but I don't think Buffalo would get that back. I also don't think Pittsburgh would offer that deal for him, but that wasn't the question.
