No where in what you quoted says they are exempt from waivers. In fact the only spot where 'waivers' shows up in the article is where it says all players going to the taxi squad must clear them. Teams must have 3 goalies on their rosters but the 3rd goalie is still subject to waivers before going to the taxi squad. We have seen evidence of this when Edmonton lost Forsberg to Carolina and Winnipeg lost Comrie to New Jersey. We have 2 actual examples from a few days ago of what you are saying not being true. Dell is subject to the exact same waivers Forsberg and Comrie were exposed to and doesn't stand a chance of make it through them, hence Toronto leaving him on their NHL roster for now.

As I said, and as the article says, teams must have access to 3 goalies between the active roster and taxi squad.

So when the AHL season starts and Toronto does not have access to Hutchinson, Dell can be placed on the taxi squad and not exposed to waivers. That's why he's there. Because Toronto has access to 3 goalies right now. Once the AHL season starts, Toronto doesn't have access to a goalie without having to recall them from the minors which may cause delays on teams being able to play. Hence they can place Dell on the taxi squad and not have to worry about having him claimed so he can still technically travel with the team and practice, but he counts as if he was in the AHL for cap reasons.

Ok, you seem to be having a lot of trouble with this. What you are saying, and what the article (nor anywhere else) doesnt say is that they are exempt from waivers. Maybe you can explain to me why both Winnipeg and Edmonton lost their 3rd goalies to waivers trying to send them to the taxi squad on Monday and can you provide any evidence at all of what you are saying being true? Even the article you've quoted here doesn't support it.

I don't see what's so hard for you to understand. The article literally says" they must have access to 3 goalies between the active roster and taxi squad". So if a team had 2 goalies (say Andersen and Campbell) and went to place Dell on the taxi squad and he was claimed, and the team was in Vancouver for a game, they then don't have access to a 3rd goalie in case of injury.

Edmonton and Winnipeg lost their goalies because since the AHL season hasn't started, they have access to other goalies that didn't require waivers to fill the 3rd spot that don't need to clear waivers. Edmonton has Stuart Skinner and Winnipeg has Arvid Holm.

I agree, a team must have 3 goalies on the roster. Where does the article say they are exempt from waivers? Where does anything at all say they are exempt from waivers? Is there anything at all thats outside of your imagination that would actually agree that they are exempt from waivers upon being sent down?

Even though this is wrong, how does this not apply to Toronto right now? The AHL season still hasn't started and Hutch, who has passed through waivers and wouldn't need to pass through them again, would immediately be available to the team.
