I really like this trade for the Jets! I dont think Carolina makes that deal though.

For me, there is no incentive there for the Jets to bail Carolina out of Skjei's contact. 4 more years of a Kulikov level contract is a lot of wasted cap space.

Kulikov got like 10 points per season...not 30. Skjei is also a big man...we can send him to Seattle next year if we want to leave him unprotected as he will be the best Dman available

I like the idea of Rosy to Carolina for one of their D. They just acquired Skjei so I’m not sure he could be had. Gardiner or Bean could be seen as more expendable maybe

Kulikov also didn't cost 5.25 mil. If Skjei only had one year left, I could see it, but after next year Skjei just gets in the way of Samberg and Heinola and is wasted cap space for a poor defensively, low, low end second pair D. Even if Seattle does take him, throwing away Roslovic for a guy that is a marginal upgrade for one year is a waste of assets. But I'm not going to argue with you if it makes you happy.

That was a different situation for a much, much better player when the Jets were trying to make a playoff push. Again though, if it makes you happy, it's all good.

Carolina are getting away nicely here. I think this does work for both sides. Carolina free up a D place for Bean, Winnipeg vastly improve on defense, and it works pretty well all around. Perrault is up after the year too. It works nicely.

I'd consider a Roslo for Skjei deal but no way I'm adding a pick, don't see the point either with all the LHD prospects the Jets have, would never acquire Skjei just to expose him to Seattle either.

View it as a rental...I would think that we could trade him next year if needed...He for sure is better than Forbert

That's why it's a no for me from the jets. The canes need to make the space to sign Hamilton and the jets giving up a 2nd and Roslovic just to get out from Matty P's contract and adding a depth F and an overpaid D doesnt make sense

scored 30 points 4 seasons ago and I do think he's overpaid in a flat cap world and the jets would be committing to 4 years. The jets need to create space for their young guys not clog it up for years

I don’t really get why some Canes fans want to dump Skjei so badly. He was one of their best D in the bubble, and the CAR front office paid a hefty price to acquire him. I for one, want to see what a Skjei-Pesce pairing can accomplish. It’s obvious that was the long term plan in his acquisition.

is a darn good top 4. Losing Skjei makes retaining Hamilton a little easier, but then you’re right back in the same spot as last season, with them looking for a competent LD to play alongside Pesce. Fleury might end up that guy, but maybe not. Bean may end up that guy too, but I have my doubts. I’d rather they hold onto all their D (unless some **** GM wants Gardiner) as expansion draft insurance. If they end up having to expose Skjei, Gardiner, Fleury and Bean, they’ll likely lose one of those D. However, they’d still be left with 3 of those 4. Easiest to just lose a player and move on.

Now, yes, Skjei makes a lot and having 5 D making more than $4M is a problem, but I don’t see the Canes dumping Skjei for what would amount to a waste of roster space in Roslovic. I like
Roslovic, but where would he play? He’d be in the same sort of situation as he’s currently in with the the Jets. He wouldn’t slot in front of anyone in the CAR top 6, and I doubt he’d fit on the 3rd line either in front of Foegele or Fast.

I wouldn’t deal Bean or Fleury for Roslovic, and there’s no way the Jets would take Gardiner for him. Dzingel for Roslovic, sure, but again; why do the Jets do that?
