Final Roster and Taxi Squad Prediction

Description
With the final scrimmage over and cuts imminent, here's my prediction for the roster and taxi squad.

Some notes:
- Schenn and Foote are rotated as 3RD pretty liberally until one proves themself to be clearly ahead of the other
- Joseph is on the 4th line and Volkov is the 21st roster spot
- Volkov will fill in throughout the forward group as needed for injuries or resting players
- Taxi squad is optimized for competitive needs, not developing players ( i.e. ABB better off returning to Syracuse)
- Wasn't impressed with Witkowski. His ability to play defense and wing doesn't earn him a TS spot

Weakest position obviously is right defense...Rutta as the #1 is pretty bad. Otherwise the team is pretty stacked of course.

As long as Hedman is still Hedman, Rutta is nothing I worry about. McDonagh and Cernak is fine. I just worry about Schenn/Foote as 3RD. If Sergachev takes another step forward this year though, it becomes less of an issue.

You know who doesn’t think that Coach Cooper and watch Rutta play with Hedman he plays real well.

Spencer Martin over Christopher Gibson on the taxi? And anyways don’t we need another goalie once the AHL season starts? If we had Vasy-Curtis-Martin on the NHL roster/taxi squad, then we would only have Gibson in the AHL.

I agree. Joseph played w Stephens and Maroon yesterday, a good indication. I am still how far Volkov has developed. Scheen is not a long term solution hoping Foote is ready.

I've heard many conflicting things about who is actually the #3 goalie in the org. We'll find out in 4 minutes perhaps, so I'll leave it there.

Looks like Taxi squad is:
- Borgman
- Schenn
- Thomas
- Smith
- Gibson

Johnson is on there for the first game for cap purposes, but I assume maybe Nieves or another vet will be on there after Johnson can rejoin the team.

Your statement is less about Rutta and more about Hedman. Imagine an even more talented partner with Hedman though.

So you’re saying John Cooper is not smart enough to notice it’s not Jan Rutta’s play that’s doing it. it’s Victor Hedman play please stop.

I'm saying, your statement suggesting Rutta plays really well with Hedman is not Rutta but Hedman; plenty of players in the league would look serviceable to moderately good with Hedman. I simply said in my original post, the right side defense is the weakest link on the team and it's true.

I'm not going to pretend like I know what the coach thinks or says behind closed doors and guess what; neither do you.

I do know what he says publicly I also see what he puts on the ice actions speak a lot louder than words
Btw I chat with Phil Esposito 2-3 times a week at the golf course I work at so yeah I may know a little more about what’s going on at channelside drive than you do.

This just struck me. We don't need another AHL goalie since we're sharing Syracuse with Florida this season.

Oh right. On another note, what was the logic behind putting Johnson on waivers? I thought we had enough cap space to run a roster with Johnson in it. Has JBB came out and explained this move?

Do you know what he puts out on the ice and I do know what he says about players that are on the ice and he says he really likes how John route of plays and he’s putting him out there constantly says he really likes how are you on route a place so yes I know more about what he thinks and YouDo apparently

Wow....interesting jumble of thoughts you typed there.

You aren't the coach, aren't in the coaches office, you don't know what he actually thinks; that's ignorant to think you do because you watch games and read articles by journalists or think the coach would ever throw a player under the bus in a interview. Hedman is so good, he makes a 3rd pairing look like a serviceable 1st pairing; again, more about Hedman then Rutta. I've known about Rutta long before you probably had a clue that was even a hockey player.

FACT: Every single team has at least one weak spot
FACT: TB's weakest spot is RHD as the rest is that strong
FACT: Rutta is not a first liner on most teams

My original statement wasn't a personal attack on you or the Bolts, it was simply stating the only weak spot on this team. That's actually praise to the Bolts so chill out kid.

There was a noon press call with the local media. They tweeted everything as normal. This seems to have always been the plan, but with the league making a last minute adjustment to how waivers and opening night rosters will work this season, he'll have to miss the first game.
