Not a chance morgan rielly is the number 3 defenseman in the whole league.

Rielly is a bit high after his injury season last year but if he can get back to 2018-19 form, coupled with some better team defensive structure and his first career solid D partner, I think he could make it pretty high up the list.

Makar is #3 imo

But he had that ONE good year? Lol

The fact that Reilly needs a good defensive partner in order to cover up his short comings should tell you right there that he is rated way too high.

Yeah I don’t really understand all the Rielly hype. He had ONE season where he was playing at an elite level. He’s gonna need to do it again in order to prove he’s a top D in this league

Yeah... I love how Carlson and Letang have been great consistently but MR had one year and he’s a top 3 guy.

I agree he's too high here but I believe he'll re-establish himself in the top 10 this year. Also - partner to cover up his shortcomings? My point is this year he won't have to cover up his AHL-defense-quality partner's shortcomings for the first time in his entire career. Name one elite D that has had worse partners in the last few years (this chart is from 2019 so it doesn't even include arguably two of his worst, Barrie and Ceci)

I’ll never understand the hype on Rielly, other than the fact that he plays for Toronto. He’s a 50-60 point D whose “meh” defensively. He had that one outlier season. If he can do it again then maybe I’ll change my mind

They’ll call him overrated when it’s time for him to sign a new contact. Like Marner and Nylander lol. MR will get 8-9million easily. Maybe more
