Is that what you call it?
Offering a bunch of spare parts for a solid top 4 D man rental, a #1 goalie, and a #1 center?
Jackets still have team control and leverage over the Dubois situation. If they decide that they have to trade him, the return will be much better than this.

Selling Savard off alone as a top 4 shut down D rental at the TDL will probably return a 1st.
Korpisalo as well, if they had to trade him, he would probably be worth a very high pick and prospect.
Not to mention the Fleury cap dump is probably worth a high pick and a prospect.
So you are a bit short even before we start talking about Dubois.

I wouldn't call Glass and Krebs spare parts.

They're not spare parts – they're good pieces in a trade for Dubois – but there's no reason for CBJ to then also give up two additional good assets AND take on Fleury's contract without getting an established top six winger as well.

The framework of a VGK deal should be something like Patches + one of Krebs/Glass + a 1st for Dubois. That'd get Columbus a potential future 2C, the 1LW they need and meaningful draft capital. Meanwhile, VGK deals from a position of strength. Even if they deal Patches + Glass, for example, they'd still have good, instant-impact forward prospects and a strong stable of wingers, but they'd add a 22 year old 1C on a below market deal AND free up cap. It'd be a win-win. A (presumably) late first round pick isn't all that valuable in the context of that deal, but would balance the scales.

Could maybe justify throwing a Kukan for Martinez swap into the deal so VGK frees up more cap.

Im a Leafs fan so maybe I don't know vegas' system well but my understanding was Glass and Krebs are both blue chip prospects.

I looked at this as trading you like Ryan Johansson and Filatov a year or two after they were drafted and a first.

Again not a knights fan but with the Stastny trade it looks like they're ready to try him at 2 c. I don't see Dubois returning THAT much more than Glass. Patches is still quietly a top 20 winger in the game.
