Donato is so bad. At least Patrick has some hope of turning it around.

Donato has very strong underlying numbers suggesting he can be a valuable middle 6 player and Simek is a solid 4-6 D man but i don’t see any reason why philly does this trade, be nice though.

Ya, but if you watch him play hockey, he’s really bad at hockey at the NHL level.

I think he needs confidence and the right coach and system, and Boughner could be just the guy. I see him being successful with the sharks, success being 15-20 goals 25-45 points and better defensive zone presence. Like a Tyler Johnson of 4-5 years ago

Philly takes their chances on Patrick getting healthy and Ghost becoming half of the player he once was. Fletcher turns this one down immediately.

He might score 15 goals and still be terrible. I’ve never seen a player worse away from the puck.

That’s where Boughner come in the picture, he’s a fantastic coach and works well with the guys on the nuances of the game (he was Sharks defensive coach when burns won the Norris Trophy) I really feel he should be on the 3rd line this season with Marleau as both his and Gregor’s mentor to help both of them take their game to the next level. Not saying marleau at 41 can cary a line (obviously he can’t) I am saying he can mentor both of them and teach them how to play and prepare for day to day and keep their heads in the game. And if they both falter then maybe we move on from them next season.

Donato isn’t an NHL player.

He’s has scored 14 goals and has the talent so he is an NHL player, Plus he is signed for 1.9 mil this year so a lot of far more intelligent hockey people disagree with you! (I said more intelligent HOCKEY people because you might be and probably are a smart and educated person and great in your field of work I don’t know I’m just commenting on this one response)

love him or hate him he has NHL talent. No amount of work can give you NHL caliber talent... but he can work on and learn the details to give him a chance to stay in the NHL. I don’t know Donato or if I like or hate him yet.... I am saying I know he has talent and I’m hoping Boughner finds out how to teach him the nuances and make him a GOOD NHL player.
