Why would Edmonton trade for Dubois? Top-6 center isn't exactly an area of need...

Khaira could be a decent 4th liner.
And if Byram comes out of camp NHL ready than Cole would definitely be on the block.

Dubois is very very good. Not giving up our top 2 d prospects, both of who are knocking at the door of making the team, for another center.

If the Oilers make a move for him, it would have to be centered around an extended Nuge. I love Nuge, but Dubois is without a doubt a player you move him for.

Having said that, I feel like CBJ would prefer a younger player under team control.

Laine for Dubois makes a lot of sense if both are unhappy with their situations

As good as PLD is does it make any sense at all to target him from an oilers perspective? I’m not sure there is a team that makes less sense. We have 3 top six centres 2 of which are top 5 in the world then have a guy like nuge that is a top line centre around half the league. I just don’t see any sense in targeting him.

It took 10 years for the oilers to realize they couldn't just sign a stopgap defender and to draft their own prospects. And now you want to trade their two best defensive prospects and their best forward prospect for a center they don't need? They would be cap screwed again within 1 year.

Got to disagree. With the condensed schedule you just know EJ is at the least going to need time off, and hopefully not injured. All the same they have the opportunity to have 7 quality dmen this season in a condensed schedule and pair Byram with a quality vet like Cole where as what does Khaira offer, that someone on the roster like Jost or Kaut or even LOC offer. That’s a hard pass from the Avs.
