1. He has a high of 61 pts but is only 22 and has played 3 seasons for a defense first team that clearly limits his offense. That would be like criticizing KK/Suzuki because their point totals haven't been high yet.

2. We have more than 2 years left with him. Hes an RFA at the end of his deal.

4. No team is giving up their 1C for scraps. I guarentee you MB rates PLD way higher than some of you habs fans are here.

If I’m cbj I would take this and run.

There several problems with you idea of this trade.

1. PLD is a number 1 center who is 22 and has more than 2 years of control.
2. Danault is 27 and is a UFA after this season, why would they give up a controlled player for a player who possible walks in 1 year.
3. Teams in contention do not give up young players for an older player on a 1 year deal and who is older. You gave up to middle of the road prospects who are not even ranked high in your system.
4. While Columbus will want a pick, they will also want a top prospect and well you did not give them that.
5. You start you description of PLD with he has only scored 6q points, if you are going to downgrade the player, why would you trade for him? Because we both know his ceiling is higher. It goes back to the Hab fan's comparing Mantha and Domi. They were trying to downplay Mantha in Hope's to get Wing fan's to like that deal.

A few points:
1 Correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t the 61 point season while he was on a line with Panarin? If so than that season stands as the outlier, meaning he is a 50 point player. Is his upside higher than that ?
2. I don’t think any Habs fan thinks PLD is anything but a great young player, I sure do. But you never know what is going on the mind of a GM. What he has tried to get, what he has been offered , look at the Anderson trade, look at the contact MB gave him. You never can tell.

100%. We don’t need Dubois, so while it would be nice to have him, we’re not going to move mountains to get him. So because of that, there’s obviously not going to be a deal that works for both sides. So I don’t know why people are so obsessed with saying what Columbus would want, because it doesn’t matter and a deal isn’t happening.

No one is trying to say that Columbus would or wouldn’t accept this. This is just the most we’d be willing to give up. And if that doesn’t cut it, then we don’t get Dubois, and we can move on from this wave of stupid Armchair GM teams.
