apparently Dubois wants to be in a big market on a bigger stage according to friedmam on TSN radio today, so Winnipeg would be the same issues with him and he would just want a trade out as soon as he can.

Based on that dont see how Winnipeg has a chance of keeping him happy

Even with how good Dubois is, we need heinola and perfetti’s elc and talent long term more than we need Dubois right now (which we don’t). And you add a first, just not happening for someone I think is a low end 1c. (Don’t @ me I know unpopular opinion but just from what I’ve seen of him)

I also think perfetti will be the better player long term

I know but his ufa year is the same as Scheiffelle could just run him through arbritation two times and take three runs with that one two combo or take two and trade whichever doesn't sign long term that last year. Arbritation rulings are quite a bit less then long term contracts so would work cap wise.

Yes but our window with Scheiffelle, Wheeler and Hellybuck on there current contracts is four years including this one. Perfetti could be the better player but does he help win a cup in that window, not sure he makes the jump that quick. Be great if he did though

Or he sits out wanting to be traded, you don’t want to go down that process with a guy getting a coupe heads of arb which he will come in beyond high based on his QO being 6m so what’s he going to ask, 10m+ in arb? Don’t think you want that headache

He wouldn't get that in arbritation somewhere between 7-8 most likely is what the arbritator would decide on.
The team has the option to walk away but not the player, so unless the team or him doesn't file he can't sit. But if somehow he was able to we'd still retain his rights for two years. He started as a 19 year old so his ufa year can still be pushed back one season needs 7 full seasons

You’re missing the point, if he doesn’t want to play in small markets he will do whatever he can to get out of there , it’s a not a healthy move for a team, will derail a locker room real

Maybe a promotion for his dad would convince him to sign long term with the Jets.. Lol

Not about the better player. The main issue is that the jets are better off having perfetti and heinola’s cheap elc’s that trading for Dubois. We needed a 2c, which we have now and for the future. We don’t need to make a top heavy team liek the jets even more too heavy. I like Dubois, don’t get me wrong, but this doesn’t help the team win a cup imo.
