Description
Chicago can give Roslovic that spot at c he wants with teows and dach out. Probably not necessarily enough but I’m hoping the extra year on Shaw balances it out. I know they just got zadorov but maybe?

Let's pretend you took Shaw out of this trade. Hawks still pass. Roslovic isn't nearly as good as Jets fans think. Every team has prospects like him.

A 3rd seems pretty standard for a 5th d no?

I mean yeah I guess. But I thought he had a pretty good season last year. Like he might be more than a 5th.

First of all, Roslovic isn’t a “prospect”. He’s an established NHLer. Second, every year he’s been in this league he’s gotten better. Last year he was a high end 3rd liner who was on the cusp of breaking into a top 6 role. Anyone who has actually seen him play (especially during the play in round), will know that he’s going to be a top 6 forward (probably as soon as this season). Keep in mind that it’s hard to score when you play on the wing (not your natural position) and in a checking role with two guys who can’t finish (especially copp).

Yes at times he was. Imo he’s capable as a 4th d now but still, considering that it’s the beginning of the season, I don’t think anyone will pay more than this for him. Maybe an extra 5th or so but that’s kinda insignificant. No knock on poolman, but right now he’s just not worth a whole lot. He was great last season though and has some potential.

Ok, Let's pretend all of this is true. I'll take your word for it.

Why should the Hawks acquire a guy that's NEVER played center in the NHL...and then put him at center? Even with Toews/Dach out...he would be their ~6th/7th best option at center. Strome/Soderberg/Wallmark/Kampf are all better centers. I'd also rather see Kursashev/Barrett at center before trading for an unhappy winger. Keep in mind...it's harder to go from wing to center than it is from center to wing. At some point the natural position isn't center when you haven't been one for 3+ years.

Don't get me wrong. The Hawks have cap space. If you want to shed Perrault and send Roslovic with him...I'd do that. (NOTHING going to WPG) I'm willing to eat Perrault for potential upside on Jack. You say he's been getting better every year. His best year is still sub 30 points. The "Top 6 Potential" you're talking about isn't very likely. It's more likely he goes to the AHL.

Lmao, this is good. Roslovic has played centre in the nhl by the way. He played centre for almost his entire rookie season and he wasn’t in any way bad. But it was better for him to switch to wing to get more minutes at that time. Also he played centre for 10 games or so this past season and he was very good. No jets fan understands why he isn’t being played at centre more. Maurice is something else. Oh and his move back to centre was flawless and his playmaking abilities because even more apparent at centre.

The jets aren’t moving Roslovic to create cap space. They have cap space. Keep in mind that in this move, they jets are taking on more cap than Chicago. Also a perreault dump is in no way worth Roslovic.

I’ve kind of already said all I want to say and to be honest, you are the only hawks fan who feels this way about Roslovic from what I can tell, so maybe that says something.

Either way, I’m not going to respond now cause you clearly need to watch Roslovic play before having this conversation imo. I am not trying to start an argument or be mean here, I just honestly think you need to watch more of his play and you might be surprised. That’s all, thanks for the reply

yeah I remember thinking he wasn't bad last year. For a 3rd and his minimal cap hit, you're probably better off keeping him.
Just my opinion

I think zadorov is meant to help develop some of our young Offensive D men. For that reason I would keep him. The deal isn’t bad, but I want to see what we have first.

I like Roslovic and all, but he’s about to turn 24 and has yet to hit 30 points. That’s not to say that he won’t, hell, he could turn into a legit top 6 center. But as of right now, the shine has worn off. Zadorov is a good fit for this team and likely an important piece going forward. I just don’t see any way to justify trading him with Roslovic as the best piece coming back.

I wanted to keep him but seeing as the jets just signed beaulieu and forbort (so they won’t be moved) and poolman wouldn’t pass through waivers, I had to move him. I would love to keep him though. Really like his game!!

That’s fair. However, Roslovic has been in a checking role with a couple of offensively challenged guys for the past 2 years which I think is a major cause for the lack of production. He was also wildly inconsistent. In fact, he still is a little inconsistent but he’s getting better. In the play in round he was our best forward after ehlers so that’s saying something. I personally think he is ready to break out into a top 6 role or will be mid-way through the season after seeing him develop for the past 3 and some years. Also keep in mind that it’s hard to produce more than 30 points in a checking 3rd line role with little power play time. He was also on pace for 33 points on a full season. Imo taking that into account, his 29 points in 71 games was rather good for his role. All that said, I would put my money on him becoming a top 6 forward down the road rather than not

I just think this trade works for both parties. Zadorov helps the jets as a big stopgap 2ld for a year. While Roslovic can establish himself as a top 6 forward (something he won’t be able to do in Winnipeg) and Chicago gets a top 6 forward who can play behind strome this year with dach and teows injured for likely the foreseeable future. Shaw also gives the hawks some cap relief next year while taking perreault this year. Shaw is the better player but he’s often injured and has 1 more year beyond this one. Perreault’s done this season. The 3rd is to balance things out.

I guess as you said, it comes down to the Roslovic for zadorov part and if that’s something you are willing to do. You’re not and that’s fair.

I wouldn't worry about waivers. Most teams have set their roster. Penguins fans did the same thing last year with DeSmith...."oh we're going to lose him for nothing...cries...."
dude passed through waivers.

Most teams already have their rosters set. Odds of him getting picked up are very low.

I mean, teams don’t pass on a big physical 4/5th d making 775k. They pass on a a 7th d on waivers, but not on a guy like poolman. Goalies are a different story since there’s only 2 spots on each team

yeah, I think you'd be surprised. It's more of a numbers game and you can't just claim a guy off waivers and then shove him in your AHL team. They most likely are set in their 7. On top of it, most other teams have a guy they are trying to do the same thing with, aka sneak him through waivers. It's a lot more successful than you think. Teams aren't trying to piss each other off snagging up waiver guys they know the other team wants to keep around. Which is why DeSmith passed through last year even though there were teams looking for goalies, like TOR. Who ended up making a trade for one.
Much like we don't see offersheets this year, when most of us were like, how did no one offersheet a TB player.
He'd pass through

Fair, I don’t think the jets risk it though, especially when they can get a decent price for a guy who is depth for them at this point
