Niku was on the 1st pairing today with Jmo. I hope that he is better after that wild season because you can definitely tell that car thing at training camp really messed him up. He just didn’t look right

Samberg’s placement was very surprising to me too. I’d think he would be in the running for the 3ld spot but I guess he’s not. Very surprised, but maybe the extra time in the ahl will be good. Anyways heinola will come in and have that 2/3 ld spot after a few practices imo.

Either way I like it. Having your two best goal scorers (and most defensively challenged players) play with your best playmaking and two-way centre is a great idea. He will really help with the possession aspect too. Smart idea

The guy just had a tough go. Personally, I think he can really live up to that role.

I’m honestly just happy that they’re even changing the lines at all lol. I wasnt expecting Maurice to do that, yes I’d like to see wheeler and laine swapped but I’m happy enough with Connor and Ehlers swapping. I agree that Heinola likely would steal the 3LD spot when he comes back, but I think they have other plans for him. I have a feeling they’re going to want some size on the backend and I think they’ll send Heinola to the moose to join samberg and work on their play together.

I’m just not sure how helpful the AHL will be for heinola.

100% he should be the 3LD, he’ll likely be on taxi squad and rotate in and out.

I don’t think so tbh. I think he isn’t on opening night (needs a few practices first) and then he’s on the roster barring a serious drop off in play. He’s going to be a regular in the 2/3ld spot imo
