They are not likely to trade him at all. If they do it will be for long term assets.

This just proves how overrated PLD is, Malkin is still 10x better than him and CBJ would be adding. However, the deal doesn't make sense because Pens aren't downgrading and Malkin will be a UFA in 2 years.

The most likely scenario: PLD gets over whatever upset him and stays with CBJ.

If that doesn't happen, CBJ will trade him for a center near the same age and plays a similar game to him. CBJ drafted PLD because of the way he plays the game. To them, he is the perfect mold of a "CBJ player" according to their scouts and management at the 2016 Draft.

Malkin may be okay with the trade, due to him finally being "the guy" on a team. Hes better than PLD and will be for the next 2-3 years, than PLD will be better. It's a short term versus long term value trade

Columbus won't trade a player who "wants out" If traded, then you have 10 other players knocking on the door that "wants out". Kill it in the bud....PLD signed a contract to play for Columbus, and PLD will observe the rules set by in the CBA, and play in for at least the next two seasons in the NHL, probably Columbus.

I think you are really over valuing your judgements here.
Malkin is 34 years old. To say he'll be better when he's 36 is pushing it. We don't know how that is going to turn out and when the wheels go they go fast.
I don't think there is a single guy at 36 in this league right now better than PLD.
There is a reason why the penguins window is closing and faster than people realize.

CBJ turns this down in an instant. There isn't nearly the value here.
