On a playoff run yes, but Tarasenko's career high is 75 points, he's more expensive and has been injured for more than a year excluding 4 playoff games.

Tarasenko's career high is 75 in 16-17. Gaudreau's is 99 in 18-19. Not to mention that Senko has been injured for more than a year with only 4 playoff games in between and has a more expensive contract. He's also 2 years older

As a huge Gaudreau fan, he sucks come playoff time. Tarasenko has won a cup. That was also first in franchise history

That's true, but with a lot of uncertainty around Senko I think this would be enticing to try out and try to crush and mold Gaudreau into a winning culture

Tarasenko has a huge buyer beware sign on him at this point. 3 shoulder surgeries, the last 2 coming back to back on the same repaired shoulder. That being said, Johnny doesn't seem like a guy that Armstrong would seek out in a trade. He values the blue collar guys. Looks like a concept that both sides would walk away from. FWIW I think Gaudreau is the better asset right now if we're talking raw value and disregarding the potential impacts of a blockbuster like that.

I agree that Gaudreau has more value right now. Very boom or bust for Calgary but we can't just continue to watch the same movie every April.

and Gaudreau has been on the downward slide. A one-year wonder of 99 points to 60 in yes 70 games, but he won't be hitting the 99 point mark ever again. Doubt he hits 80 ever again either. Because of injuries Tarasenko is still Consistently a high 60s point production player and has been a consistent 30-35 goal scorer every season. Gaudreau is shady with goal scoring yes had 2 season of 30 goals, but last year with only 18. I'd rather take the more consistent Tarasenko than the 1-year wonder Gaudreau and pay for a guy who is producing less.

One year wonder? Your thinking of JT Miller. What happened to Gaudreau was called a career season. Still a ppg player with potential for 30 goals. Tarasenko last year got 3 goals because he was injured. 3 shoulder surgeries is more uncertain than a down year.

3 goals and 7 assists in 10 games. Look at the full scale of that a player who was on the chance of 1 point per game, or a player who had 60 in 70 games. Also you don't take defense into consideration. A lot of things you do't take into consideration. Have you considered the fact that Tarasenko is a top 5 driver in the league? or that his defense is about average where Gaudreau has always fallen. Have you considered that Tarasenko has an extra year on his contract? Have you considered that Tarasenko on his worst year in his career was still at a +4% Effectiveness when shooting, and that Gaudreau had a -2% last year, and that Tarasenko has hit a +10% and a +11%. Gaudreau hit +7% last year and that was the best he has done over the course of his career. Have you considered if Gaudreau would transition well into the Blues organization which is very different from Calgary? Have you considered that Gaudreau isn't effective unless he has Tkachuk on his line? What happens if he comes to the Blues without a guy like Tkachuk what happens then we just get screwed tough luck better luck next time. A career year where he had 2/3 secondary assists, and just dropped to half the amount of goals the next year. Also Tarasenko actually knows how to play come playoff time Gaudreau ehhhh not so much. You can think all you want it might have been that way when Gaudreau hit 99 points, it might be a career year, but you have nothing to tell me that that will happen again, average peak is around the age of 24, so I'm sure you can keep telling yourself and everyone else he's gonna hit 100 points again and if he does well good for you guys, but Johnny Hockey is not the Blues style player, Tarasenko is. Tarasenko also has a way better shot, and yeah he's had 3 surgeries, but I'm not sure that he's actually going to leave St.Louis ever.

Gaudreau drives play as well. His defence is awful I’ll give you that one. Gaudreau is also 750000 cheaper. Idgaf about advanced analytics. Gaudreau might benefit from a winning culture in St. Louis. It takes some guys some time to figure it out. Ovechkin for example. Gaudreau has never played with Tkachuk, he plays with Monahan and carries him. He’d have guys way better than Monahan to play with in STL. Yes he dropped off but he’s more likely to bounce back at 27 which is still young than Senko is with being half dead for a year at 29. He’s trash come playoffs but the risk here is on Calgary’s side. Senko might be useless after surgery but Gaudreau can at least be there and in a winning culture, who knows what happens come crunch time. I don’t think he’ll hit 100 ever but he could hit 90 and I believe he will. Elite players don’t tend to teeter off until 32ish and he’s elite. If you don’t want him on your team, you do you but reward out weights risk here and it’s just a logistically smart move. Calgary on the other side is taking a shot in the dark and hoping something turns around.

Yeah 17 points in 26 playoff games and 15 points in 20 playoffs games is definitely trash. Gaudreau hitting 90 again. You are blind by your own homerish fantasies. You are telling me you want me to wanna make the move and the Calgary doesn't thing is obviously Tarasenko has a lot more upside chances when it comes to goal scoring and again. Advanced stats which you said you don't care about advanced stats but that's because basic stats are for basic people. Advanced stats are for advanced knowledged people. Blues would have to pay Gaudreau's 3.5M Signing Bonus and 3.25M Salary this season and a 6 Million salary cap next season. Blues would have 2 years of 5 Million which is not guaranteed money, and 1 year of 9 million which also wouldn't be guaranteed. A winning atmosphere does really matter when Johnny doesn't drive the puck as well as Tarasenko. He's not as physical either. Tarasenko is a very physical player which is what Berube likes. Gaudreau is apart of that finesse crap, and teams figured out how he played so now he fell off.

Um, I didn’t call Senko bad come playoffs. It is completely reasonable for Gaudreau to have a 90 point pace or close to it this year. Your actually being the homer. You want a worse 29 year old who’s more expensive and been half dead for more than a year instead of the better 27 year old who’s cheaper albeit at a lesser contract length who’s just coming off a season where everybody on his team has a down year. Very creative way of calling me dumb. Are you 8? Advanced stats also say that Jared Spurgeon is the NHL’s 2nd best dman. I rest my case. Unless your owner is Melnyk, nobody gives a singular f*ck about that the actual money being paid. I don’t see why it’s so hard for you to grasp that Gaudreau wants to win, obviously, he just doesn’t know how. St. Louis can teach him. “That finesse crap” I think you mean the new brand of NHL hockey

Lol, it's not. That's like saying its completely reasonable for Lucic to hit another 60 and 50 point year because he's done it in the past. It's not reasonable. Only reason you think Gaudreau is better because you are a flames fan well 2 years ago that would be saying something and I would agree with you, but you have absolutely no way to guarantee he's not going to **** the bed this year after what he pulled off last year. It's a creative way of looking at it for Calgary, but to the Blues, he's going to want more money than Tarasenko will, Tarasenko wants to stay anyway since his family is here and they love it here, so most likely takes a discount on his next contract anyway, and as far as Gaudreau with how high you want to make his upside sound most likely gets around 8-9 Million. Which Calgary can't afford so mine as well have the Blues keep Senko and get Gaudreau in the offseason when that comes around. No advanced stats say that he has some certain statlines in which he would be 2nd, but not overall if you look at the right ones. You rest your case on no substantial evidence behind it just words that you want to pull out of your ass. Well during COVID times when every team is losing money right now. I don't know if you have heard about that yeah everyone has been getting it and no fans have been in attendance which is one of the resources on making money, so the teams want to cut back on player spending while fans can't be in attendance. I don't know if I need to dumb it down for you. And winning is not something you teach to a 27 year old who thinks he's the sh*t, and he's not. Especially when he wants to have the puck on his stick 90% of the time. No I mean finesse crap, because you get to pretty with the puck and you lose it. Maybe it's Calgary's new brand of hockey (and why they haven't made it past the first round in awhile) but Blues go for grit, which Gaudreau doesn't fit in that play style whatsoever.

Not at all the same thing. Lucic is horrible at hockey. I’d do better than him. Gaudreau on the other hand had a down year. It happens to the best of them. He could very well have a 90 point pace this year. It’s way more unrealistic for Tarasenko to succeed after 3 surgeries and being 29 with his highest scoring season in recent memory being like 64. But I’m glad you know Senko and Johnny do well you feel confident enough to post there every demand on this website. I hope you know Pierre Luc Dubois just as well and can give us CapFriendly users some inside information. These owners don’t give a singular f*ck about giving out 1 extra million here or there. Plus, the Flames have like 100 owners so each guy only pays like 10 dollars to each player. Not a big deal at all. For the last f*cking time, he can learn. It’s about the culture. But you know him personally so obviously your accurate that he thinks he’s the sh*t so I’ll take your word for it. Also, if I recall correctly (which I do) Alex ovechkin was 28 and had just scored 50 goals and somehow been a -35. Barry Trotz came into town and turned him around, taught him to win and he won a Cup as a result. The culture helped him. Your being a homer. There is no way of proving that Senko is better than Gaudreau or has more trade value cause he isn’t. Stop this delusion

That's what Lucic had was a down year and look how far that down year brought him down. Tarasenko even after his second surgery was still hitting it and the one before was on his other shoulder. That's funny because his previous 2 season was 66 then he went up to 68 the next year and the 2 years before that was 74 and 75 points. I haven't posted their demands, it's based on hockey knowledge and a thing called the market. You think he's gonna be 90 point player well that's almost Marner area so 8-9 million just under him it's not hard to actually say what he's gonna get, and like so many Blues players who have stayed over the years and have gotten older they have taken discounts even Maroon took a discount here. So is it really that hard to think he will take a discount just because you wanna fleece the blues out of like 4 prospects 5 picks and tarasenko for Gaudreau lol you act like he is a god, in really defense wins championships Tarasenko has better defense and Gaudreau is abysmal on defense and doesn't want to play defense he wants the puck on his stick and that's about it. Yeah I don't think you know this but 100 owners and each one pays 10 dollars that would mean they make 10,000 a year so well done on your math genius. For the last f*cking time Calgary players outside of MacInnis have never done well in St.Louis, and they have never transitioned well. Especially when you are a hard headed hockey player who thinks he's the sh*t. If Blues want anyone it's Tkachuk because that's the playstyle we'd like. Fun fact, Barry Trotz built the offense around Alex Ovechkin, Blues aren't going to reconstruct the offense around Gaudreau just because he scores a couple extra goals a year actual less if we think about it. There is also know what of proving Gaudreau is better or has more market value than Tarasenko, so just stfu please. I am losing brain cells just because you think a guy who has never scored 10 f*cking points in playoffs ever is going to make the Blues a winning team. Blues won with Tarasenko who had an amazing playoffs both defense and on offense. Gaudreau had a NEGATIVE 10 last year just because he got a few extra secondary assists because Tkachuk scored 34 goals doesn't make him a top player in the organization. Hell Blues don't have room for a LW. Tarasenko is honestly our only True RW, but I guess you wouldn't f*cking pay attention to that either because you don't give a flying rat's ass unless it helps your team out. Look at it from both perspectives. I'm sure you think Hanifin is the best Defenseman in the league and Kylington and Valimaki deserve the Calder. Oh oh is Markstrom making you butthurt because he's not a 90 ovr on NHL 21? Wait i forgot you got butthurt because Giordano who in your eyes is better than every defense didn't win the Norris. my bad. I'm delusional well here's what I've heard well he did this in the past he's done this before, he COULD be on a 90 point pace it's reasonable. He COULD learn how to be in a winning organization. Nah, he won't because one the year he did do well was a winning organization, but because he was an individualist, and he chokes in playoffs he didn't learn how to win on an organization that had a winning atmosphere.

Blues have Schwartz, Perron, Schenn, Sanford, McEachern, Clifford playing LW. So you want to make our left side redundant. And our Right side to just Robert Thomas? and some fill ins because Blais get hurt, Sundqvist is a true Center Perron players right wing from time to time, but he does better on the Left side. Oh oh I get it, it doesn't matter as long as it helps the Flames out getting a guy who didn't have a down year just has a surgery and from his last surgery he still did very well after coming back, but Gaudreau fell off quite a bit and no one knows if he'll get back to that spot. What else do we wanna bring up that in Johnny's 99 point season that he had 124 giveaways to 58 takeaways, or the season before with 100 giveaways to 44 takeaways, or should I bring up the 18 blocks he had his great season when Tarasenko has an average of almost 40 blocks over the 2017-2019. Or should I bring up that the offense for Calgary was more effective without him on the ice last year and the defense was actually stopping more threats when he wasn't out there. You wanna bring up anything you can to tell me off of all of the reasons for not wanting Gaudreau on a defensive minded team telling me how he can win a learning format defense wins championships over Johnny's entire career he's been ignorant towards that so much so that Calgary was actually better when Gaudreau was completely off the ice the entire season. No chance in hell would I want that for a player. Tarasenko is also a leader on the Blues, but idk how much leading Gaudreau has done over the course of his career considering the man has never worn a letter on his jersey, and from the looks of what media is saying he's not much of that type of person in the locker room either, and who knows he might be a locker room cancer which definitely doesn't help. Not sure if he is, but we can always figure that out by looking at Johnny Hockey stories. But yes keep boasting your player "for the last f*cking time" that he can learn to play defense when he doesn't ever want to play defense. Funny enough Gaudreau last year had more giveaways with 144 than Tarasenko has in the past 4 years that he was actually playing. with 128 giveaways over 4 years. He averages 33 takeaways to 32 giveaways. Gaudreau averages 130 giveaways to 29 takeaways over the past 4 seasons as well. Shooting percentages are about the same in averages. Tarasenko averages more goals per year than Gaudreau, he has less assists, but let's face it Gaudreau got a ton of Powerplay points from assists, and well Tkachuk had a stellar year, but how dare I prove a Calgary fan wrong about all of it. At one point I did think he was better than Tarasenko, but he's not. Face value to most teams sureeee, but Blues have a certain style that would show true colors of Gaudreau and how bad he is on defense. But hey you have your daft opinion that you made on your own basic stats, I based my opinion on fully analyzed statlines that have more to do you shoot you score or you miss such as yours. Because hockey isn't just goals it's actually more about defense, and the more defensive your forwards are with offense on their side and how well they forecheck and keep it in the ozone and wear out the defense easier to score, but hey Gaudreau can't even hold the puck averages about 1.5 giveaways per game. But who am I to talk to the great FlamingC flames homer right?

Wow, this was an entire novel. Glad you’re so f*cking passionate. Please never talk to me again on this website Jesus f*cking Christ. I’m glad you pointed out my math was wrong. Very intellectual comment. I hadn’t realized. Gaudreaus numbers aren’t boosted by Tkachuk because they never play together which I’ve told you 800 times. Hanufin is very good, Valimaki could win the Calder considering he was injured for a year and a half and then lead the Finish league on defensive scoring all while being elite defensively and he also out scored Pulujuarvi. Kylington isn’t even a rookie. I actually think we should give Gio to Seattle, so no he shouldn’t have won the Norris and I don’t see Markstrom doing well here without Ian Clark. Goalies typically don’t do too well after free agent moves anyways. You got to draft goalies like it or not. Defense can be taught. Think Steve Yzerman. Couldn’t perform same level offensively so he just won the Selje instead. Not saying Gaudreau will win a Selke but I have a point. Speaking of takeaways and giveaways did you know Gretzky always led the league in giveaways? It’s cause he had the puck all the time. As for blocking shots, Gaudreau probably won’t be blocking shots in Calgary. But that being said, you can’t block shots if the puck is in the offensive zone. It’s like the hitting stats. The Flames have the former leader in KHL hits. They thought he’d be a god but why do you think he led the KHL in hits. He didn’t have the puck. Your analytics are dumb. What do you think of Jared Spurgeon? Carey Price? Leon Draisaitl? Dougie Hamilton? I’m not a homer at all. Fact of the matter is that Calgary won’t win the Cup this year and the only guy I see having a minimal shot at an award or anything is Valimaki at Calder. But Kaprizov and Laffy are here so he prob won’t get that either.

But you forget the fact that if he can't make shot blocks on the Blues because the Blues aren't a completely offensive team he won't work. Comparing the KHL to NHL a guy like you. You are an absolute joke bud. Sure he was with monahan and lindholm in 5v5, but powerplay ooh idk, you wanna tell me that the statistics that he was with him decent amount of time. It's funny, because everything you said for one is an excuse, Hockey is built on blocking shots, and don't tell that he was in the ozone because last season literally 61% of his starts were in the dzone so you wanna tell me he was in the o-zone the reason he doesn't block. That's good gretzky had the most giveaways he had the most points and won a stanley cup, too bad Gaudreau hasn't and doesn't play like it. He doesn't even score half the amount of goals Wayne Gretzky scored. Good for you to admit that. But analytics are only dumb to the people who can't comprehend them. Jared Spurgeon is the new Captain, and he does pretty solid, Carey Price still can steal games, but he's not the best anymore. Leon Draisaitl has done very well might have hit his career year and doesn't hit it again, Dougie Hamilton is okay, not great.

No problem with comparing the KHL to the NHL in reference to hits. When it comes to hits, you are still playing 60 minute games of hockey. When you compare points it gets a bit fishy. He got 18 points on the PP so even if he did play with Tkachuk on the PP, he didn't boost his numbers. Tkachuk is also a more complete player and not an offensive powerhouse, if anything Gaudreau would boost Tkachuk's numbers on the PP by feeding him passes because Tkachuk is mainly a goal scorer on offence. I just checked Gaudreau's advanced stat nonsense. The last time his d zone starts were that high were the year he played one game. Seems like you're pulling numbers out of your ass because you think I won't check them. Every other year they've been high 60s, low 70s. Nobody scores at anywhere near the same rate Gretzky does so stop using that as an argument. But he stylistically plays the same way so it makes sense that he'd give pucks a way a lot. Gaudreau almost had the most points, I didn't compare him skill wise to Gretzky though (stylistically) so it's irrelevant. I don't give a flying f*ck he's never won a Cup. If I recall, Gretzky was called a loser and "Mickey Mouse" (I don't know how that makes sense but it's true) because he couldn't win a Cup. Was told he choked when it mattered. He figured it out eventually. I don't understand why you're so opposed to the idea of allowing someone to figure it out in a different situation. Even Michael Jordan was told he was an individual player and choked when it mattered. The only sport where guys have ever been winners off the bat is in football and that's because it requires very minimal luck besides injury luck. Also, hockey is both an offensive game and defensive game. Why is the undisputed GOAT atrocious defensively if hockey is built on blocking shots?

I'm not even gonna read any of that bud, I'm done with the capfriendly mindset people have. It's funny that you are gonna bicker and bicker and bicker about whoever you are now, and before were using gretzky as an excuse to why it's a good thing Gaudreau has a terrible takeaways to giveaway ratio. Gaudreau and Gretzky aren't the same player, when Gaudreau can win one cup come talk to me bud, because Tarasenko in the Stanley Cup carried at certain points same with some of the other rounds. And you are trying to justify, I'm justifying this or that I'm giving you stat lines and you are coming up with dumb analogies, first off gretzky back in the 80's is a different game from 2021. Completely different. 2 I already told you some graphs mine as well show them to you since you don't believe me bud.

gaudrjo93gaudrjo93gaudrjo93gaudrjo93

Bud that's all I have to show you. Calgary is more effective without him on the ice, and you want to justify how you are taking a bigger risk then leave it alone you don't have to take the risk, you aren't convincing me he's a Top 5 player in the world, and you can't expect me to believe he's gonna help win the Blues a cup when he couldn't even do it on an arguably better Calgary team throughout the 2019 season. Give it a rest with the capfriendly homer mentality bud. I would show you powerplay stuff to because he's a powerplay specialist nothing more but you would get even more mad and start calling me names like a little kid lol.
