Petterson is a center he is registered as a center, and I said this year defensively but overall from 2017- now all the guys I listed are better than Barkov

Omg, dude I’m gonna try and not be mean but, zibby is not top 15 Matthews is the third best active center, aho is not by any means better than point or petty, literally the consensus top 10 for people who understand analytics is mcdavid, mackinnon,Matthews, Crosby-point-petty all three are interchangeable, drai,malkin-eichel, coots-orielly

There is no consensus. And I showed my work, all you got is arrogance, poor grammar and a bunch of cute nicknames. The fact that you think a winger with a career high of 66 points is a "consensus" top-10 center is pretty laughable.

If you read the comments section you'll see I answered a bunch of responses like yours with the applicable facts.

All you used is points and points per game, you didn’t use WAR GAR xWAR xGAR SPAR xSPAR GF GA CF xCF xGA xGF you didn’t use jfresh cards or evolving hockey, your list is based on nothing but opinions and points

I live in Florida, I don’t use the eye test because I’m not 5 years old I use analytics which is factual information gathered by people and machines that watch every second of every game to give full proof charts which are based on fact not option which show that Barkov was just average defensively so you can keep saying this my option hubabalo, but facts don’t care about your opinions

If you are gonna be so blind to see the fact that he is a top 5 center, and to respect someone else’s opinion I’ll just stop arguing then, because it looks like we are just waisting our time. And if you want to make fun of someone make sure you spell OPINION right haha! Plus you can’t just stare at facts, and statistics all day long, you gotta look at other things.

Lol did you really just say I can’t use facts to say who is better than who? That I have to use a biased eye test that yields inconsistent results and BIASED results and opinion is how I keep spelling it don’t know what your on about, but even the basic stats you gave on you other post didn’t put Barkov in top 5 they barely put him top 10 and you use 0 stats that show defence

Points shows a players offensive contribution in the league. I don't care how many corsi's you get if the don't turn into points.

P/GP is the single stat that has the highest predictive value for future scoring. Do that math yourself if you doubt it.

GF% rel was used to indicate a player's overall game impact in comparison to his team, which I think it does quite nicely.

I could take apart some of those other stats (WAR / GAR / xWAR / xGAR, for instance, don't properly take usage into account), but I don't have the time nor do I value your conversation enough to find it (the time, that is).

    Have a great day.

Points show nothing but finishing ability. For example Kane has all the points in the world but he has little to no impact on the game, points don’t show that but his WAR,GAR,GA,xGA an CF show that

Kane's still one of the best transition forwards in the league (https://twitter.com/FauxCentre/status/1329603387302825993).

Don't disagree that using the stats you've listed is more helpful than stuff like overall points and P/PG though.

Not sure I agree. Koskinen will be a UFA summer 2022 (when this trade occurs) and they'll have to make a decision. Varlamov is 1-year, $5M at that point, so there's basically no risk. If he's still playing at career averages, I would certainly be open to considering this trade... maybe he'd be a good mentor for Konovalov, too.

I would think by then the Oilers will have all ready sorted out the goalie situation, who ever they bring in next yr to replace smith I’d expect it to be for more then 1 yr be it a UFA signing or a trade with it being another 1A 1B situation and becoming the starter once Koskinens contract expires

Potentially Koskinen can be just as good, but the track record is short and he's a UFA summer of '22. I could see Edmonton doing this deal for sure, depending on what happens over the next 2 seasons of course.
