-Whats he got to show for the Ladd trade?
-How's the 2016 draft trade working out? L.Stanley?
-The Mason dump trade wasn't necessary! Cost us Armia!
-Almost nothing left from the Kane trade as Roslo wants out.
-Held onto Trouba too long, likely would've gotten a better return had he traded him earlier.
-Overpaid for Hayes AND that team was a trainwreck and wasn't worth investing in, should've been selling UFA's for picks not trading for Hayes, Hendricks, Beaulieu, P.Lindholm and Kisilevich.
-Eakin was a cap dump, Vegas should've paid the Jets to take him.
-Stastny trade #2, see the Eakin trade above
He isn't active enough improving this lineup in my opinion, tons of minor trades happen every season that he doesn't make that could make this team better, where was he this offseason when D.Toews and R.Murray were traded for a few measly picks?
Other then Hellebuyck that's a pretty unimpressive list and a lot of good goalies are drafted in later rounds so even getting Helly where they did isn't that impressive, maybe Harkins and Samberg amount to something yet and hopefully Berdin as well but the rest are either 4th liners, 3rd pair dmen, busts or a 3rd liner at best so I don't see how that's some impressive draft record, honestly I don't think the Jets drafting is much better then any other teams if it is at all, maybe drafting is all luck idk but a lot of teams have found top 6 forwards and top 4 D after the 1st round whereas the Jets haven't.
Chevy has hit on some 1st round picks and signed some good value contracts but I think you could probably say that about a lot of GM's, I think he gets a lot of credit when really idk if he's been any better then any other GM, if he fu*ks up the Laine situation he needs to be fired.
-a player not signed 5.5 mill for 7 years that the islanders regret ever since signing him (Rosi a nice +)
- trade up to get a defenceman, didnt pan out (but not like the players taken after him r that hot either) so eh
- that trade was prob more saving $$ out of owners pockets and guess it took Armia, guess he was expendable with Rosi wanting full time minutes
-not fair to judge a trade that happened more then 5 years ago like that.. he won the trade then, even now the package is worth more then Kane
-thats what it took to get Hayes.. simple as that, overpaying is common in a bidding war..... and it was easily the best time to get him and try to turn the ship around with Laine, Conner going off ELC and Myers Tanev, Chirot, looking at UFA.. as well as Wheelers raise kicking in
-Eakin was a deadline deal right before playoffs.. a 3rd line center on a expiring deal for a 3rd, thats fair
-Stastny is hardly a cap dump at all.. a full season of him, where at the deadline if he plays decent he would be worth a 1st, we only got him that cheap cause Vegas was desperate to shed cap and the covid situation
actively doing trades is tricky
u dont want to trade for a player if he doesnt want to be here or have any plans of staying long term... Winnipeg's a hard sell :/ harsh reality
there r a few more.. Niku a 7th rounder, won AHL calder and best defensemen last year.. got screwed over by injuries this year though
Copp and Lowry
Nikkanen looks interesting, Gustafsson as well.. rest from recent years r to young to know
drafting in the later rounds has alot to do with luck... lets say with Tampa, they got Kuch in the 2nd and Point in the 3rd, if they had the slightest idea of how good they would turn out to be they NEVER wouldve let them fall that far
same with the jets on Helle.. if they though he had the chance to win the Vezina one day, they would picked him up at 2nd, 3rd round not the 5th
the jets draft really well at the 1st round, at the places they were picking and still finding those elite players... thats a feat really hard to think of a team better them the jets at that (would say BOS but the 2015 draft.... ouch) VAN past few years actually, PHI maybe?
but we'r on the same page at the Laine situation....... thats chevy's and maurice's mess
