In most of our tougher matchups last year, Armia was in our top 6 forwards in terms of usage. The Habs are going for the cup the year and he's at a totally reasonable cap hit.
Translation: he's not going anywhere.

NJ takes that and runs. We have a desperate need at RW.

Here's my train of thought:

- Armia has no place in this team anymore - everybody places him either on the 4th line or scratched;
- The right side is stacked (Gallagher, Toffoli, Anderson and now Perry and Frolik) - Even on the left side (Drouin, Tatar, Byron, Lekhonen); None of these guys are going before Armia IMO;
- Under the current cap circumstances, he's become a problem - I can see him go and Kulak staying;
- About the price - Cap has become a very valuable currency this upcoming season, just see what OTT got for taking 2 not so expensive contracts + Stepan. MTL gets a good prospect back, it is what it is.

I'm sure by going somewhere else he would get more minutes and do better, but in MTL he's just a talented 4th liner at almost 3M$.

Makes no sense to keep him.

It's going to be pretty comical in a few years when Armia is making $2.5m, playing solid 2 way hockey and chipping in 40 pts per year, and J.Anderson is struggling to stay healthy and settled in as a 25pt bottom 6 player.

Also, Armia is a UFA next year, he's at min worth a 3rd.

I'll take your word on it about Groleau. Although the fact he was in the ECHL last year gives me some doubts.
