German hockey has improved so much in the last decade. That 16-2 game doesn’t tell the whole story. Not one bit

That legitimately made me sad. German game was starting to grow between Draisaitl, Stutzle, Seider and an Olympic run, that may have set them back a year or two.

I don’t think it set them back tbh. With a healthier lineup against the weaker teams in the group, I expect much better showings against Slovakia and Switzerland. Stuetzle and Peterka are buzzing right now, and Florian Elias looks good too. If they had Seider and Reichel I’d consider them a fringe medal threat, but I can still see them easily taking 3rd in the group on the back of their top line. They should be a decent little team at the Olympics, especially if Stutzle and Seider fully establish themselves as stars by then. Solid goaltending and a few decent depth options plus three stars is perfect for a team looking to pull off an upset (they match up well against Slovakia, Czech Republic, Switzerland, etc. at the Olympic level too imo).
