I didn’t realize he’d want to go all the way to Ottawa after he said he didn’t want to move his family. Idk tho good for him to get another opportunity somewhere else.

Why do people not understand they know nothing about a player, their family or their situation and assume that they should never waive to go to another team? Maybe he was guaranteed a roster spot to keep his career alive. Maybe playing in only Canada was a desire for him. There’s lots of reasons why one would waive.

Yep, I don't understand would waive. He has to be in last NHL season, so it's not like he playing for a contract or going to Cup contender. Maybe he thinks it's better than being on the taxi squad for Tampa.
Maybe with playing time, he might get traded to desperate contender at TDL
LTIR Nilsson and Gaborik really mean nothing in the trade. But Sens get a second rounder and certainly can use Pacquette and maybe trade this upcoming UFA at TDL

Because Julian Brisebois Made him an offer he basically couldn’t refuse if you don’t wave we are going to put you on wavers to get you on the taxi squad At least in Ottawa you know you’re going to get playing time.

Actually knowing Melnyks past those two contracts meant a lot Gaborik was only insured for 80% and Nilssons Was uninsured which saved Eugene Melnyk 3.2 million US$ in real money that didn’t have to come out of his pocket. And it freed up roster spots that Ottawa didn’t have
