why? You could literally put him in the minors and have more than enough cap space. One year deal. No reason why DET wouldn't go for a higher pick

I gotta agree with this 100%. Don’t see a need or use for Hoffman. These lines are confusing

Hoffman is too offensive, and sucks defensively. Not someone you want with McDavid.

He isn't waiving for Detroit and he has 2 seasons left. Edmonton would have to give up at least 3rd for it to be worth it.

I have a sneaking suspicion that Russell was extended so he could be exposed in the expansion draft. Wouldn't make much sense to trade him until after that.
