If you are gonna cap dump Tyler Johnson, its gonna cost Foote, not an ADDITIONAL 2nd...

Also bruins are on the team

Fix her up and then see how people feel!

There is no way Boston is going to help out one of its biggest rivals get out of this cap crunch. Making this deal to dump Johnson’s salary is going to cost a whole lot more than what you suggest. Convince me why another contender would help TB out especially after they just won a Stanley Cup? Only teams that should trade with Tampa Bay are teams looking to rebuild with lots of cap space wanting to compile draft picks.

laugh laugh JBB isn't dealing Foote to move Johnson's contract, And you sure as hell aren't getting no 2nd round pick in return. And no freaking way is Mike Hoffman signing that cheaply maybe 1 x $4,500,000 at bare minimal.

I was bored of seeing the same copy pasta Johnson for Detroit, NJ, blah blah blah, I already know that you would want to dump a thicker contract on the bad teams that are tanking and give picks as compensation but I felt like looking at it a different way that services both rosters needs, maybe receiving a 2nd was ambitious but copy pasta doesn't produce creativity. Sometimes solutions are the are the approaches that aren't as obvious.

Let me see if I'm following this right....

Boston is going to take on their biggest rivals camp dump to help them (TBL) make their team better. In the process Boston gets a RHD prospects (not a huge need for the team), put themselves in a tough cap spot all while have no use for Tyler Johnson for the next 4 years?

Boston could have had Johnson for free along with every other team.....no one wanted him.

Because the contract was too much to swallow straight up and teams can shake the lightning down for compensation?

Also the division realignment this year, Bruins and lighting are in different divisions. . . Boston's core isn't getting younger and when your in the trenches you should try to get as much help as you can get, on top of that Tampa losing their best defensive prospect doesn't make them better. Tampa signing Hoffman to that deal is basically just the forward version of the shattenkirk deal and look how well that ended for shattenkirk, if you can do it once why not do it again

division is irrelevant, Tampa is still Boston's biggest rival for a cup run. Yes Bruins core isn't getting younger, but they have a next wave of core guys already on the team like Pasta, McAvoy, Carlo, DeBrusk to name a few. I think Studnicka will be one of those guys as well. Tampa moving $5+ million of cap space to re-sign Cirelli and go out and get Hoffman (someone Boston is kicking tires on as well) is making the team better. Don't forget Boston already has their top 4 RHD set for a while with McAvoy and Carlo. Foote doesn't fill a need for Boston nor does Johnson, and that's the point. Boston is giving up a 2nd to acquire two players they don't need and putting themselves in a tough cap spot. Meanwhile Boston's biggest cup rival gets the cap relief support needed to improve their team.

If I were Sweeney and TBL called seeing if I'd take Johnson, it would start with Cirelli. Of course that's not going to happen, but that's the type of hurt it would take for Boston to take on Johnson's bad contract.

They are not in the same division this year and the only way they play each other is if they both make it to the ECF.

The reason Boston does not make this trade is lack of cap space.

If Hoffman was signing for that Boston would have done it already i’d imagine.
