Disagree. Bean's going to be better than Grans or Kupari, as far as impact on the game is concerned. Canes accept regardless, though. Kings fans will love Bean, I think, but Grans and Kupari are nice places to punt Bean's value for when we actually need defensive reinforcements, aka. when Slavin/Pesce are UFAs.

Honestly, if you really want Jake Bean, you should probably just wait until after the expansion draft and offer Seattle something for him. If the Vegas draft is any indication, Seattle will go heavy on defensemen due to their premium trade value. They'll have 14 defensemen and only 7-8 spots on the opening night roster.

I disagree. Bean for Kupari has been one of these deals that Kings and Canes fans have talked about for a while. Grans IMO evens out the loss in short-term value for us.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA no. If the Canes go 8-1 instead of 7-3-1, I see the Canes protecting Bean. I'm very high on him.

I was told by multiple people he's exempt from the expansion draft, but I did not confirm it. I would however wait until after the 2021 Draft, but at that point they may decide to keep him if Seattle decides to take one of Gardiner or Skjei.

How is he a bust? He's been doing great in the AHL, but Canes are stacked at LD.

No, Bean's not expansion exempt, but at the same time, I think that the Canes are leaning towards keeping him. Perhaps an inclusion of Drury would further balance the swap.

No, Grans is not. He's good but vs. lesser competition. Bean's performed phenomenally for an age-21 defenseman in the AHL. He's IMO ready right now at least for a #7 role this season.

If the Kings offered Kupari and Grans for Bean and Gunler, who would you want the Kings to add to balance the deal?

He's fine. Just people act like he's cemented himself as a top 4 D when he can't even crack the Canes lineup. Also, Canes apparently insisted on trading him over others in a trade discussion with the Hawks. Emulating the Bracco fiasco when Leafs fans treated him like a top prospect.

Ok but I'm just stating my opinion. Bean hasn't shown anything to yield this return. I also see more potential in Kupari and Grans. Especially for both?

Got it. In Beans defense, the Canes have been stacked at LD for quite some time with players like Slavin, Gardiner, Skjei, Fleury, Edmonson, Hanifan, etc.

For a trade-and-extension for Robin Lehner. That's an example of a piece that would be worth Bean. Hawks were asking for one of Fleury or Foegele plus a 1st for Lehner + extension, which was a hell no on our end.

A player like Jake Bean, well at least how he's valued, should be given a chance over a guy like Joel Edmundson, who sucks at defense.

Either this is an indictment on the Canes for their utilization of him or he's not as good as everyone claims him to be.

Yes, exactly. I will say, though, that Bean has a Fleury-like window to get into our defense this year. Fleury started out as the #7 and ended as a regular. Bean may well do the same.
