So a team that was 2 wins from going to the finals, that has an ageing GM, ageing Coach, ageing No. 1 goalie, ageing forward group, ageing defence group is going to trade by far their best player (and only 23 yo) for an iffy 3rd liner and a bunch of futures?

The only way Lucic let the trade from Edmonton to Calgary happen is his NMC had to be honored by Calgary. That is something Yzerman wouldn't do. With a NMC he can't even be sent to the minors unless he approves and he has to be protected in the expansion draft. He has also exhibited some rather scary behavior. In the 2016-17 playoffs when Edmonton was knocked out by Anaheim he went through the hand shake line saying I will f*****g kill you to every Ducks player. That is the type of guy you want anywhere near a young locker room.
