Description
san jose likely won't get a better offer. this bolsters the best defense corps in the league, unmatched. imagine these guys in clutch playoff time. sure, burns is too offensive. play him with a responsible defenseman in muzzin, and we're fine.

long term injured reserve is the taxi squad (4-6 players)

Why would the Sharks retain that much money in a trade... ever? Sharks may as well wait a few years and buy him out if they're gonna swallow about half the contract for that long.

They swallow it now....because they need to take now for a few years and need retained funds to keep them near the floor and on ly way to trade Burns.

Burns paired with Muzen would be like Batman and Robin.....maybe one of the best defence pairings in the entire NHL as both players compliment each other......you need to step back from the forrest and really looks at the benefits.

Brent Burns is 36 years old in like 2 months. He isnt that guy any more. You need to stop living in the past.

Watch him alot living on the westcoast and he still has alot of jump in his game......I really think he would deliver a Cup.......its time for the Leafs to get bold and take a chance.

I watch him a lot from the east coast. His utter inability to play inside his own blue like was a big reason San jose was awful last year. You're basically adding older bigger contract tyson barrie

Burns took a big turn downwards last season. Really difficult to trade for 36 year old who might be declining. Betcha his M NTC doesn't include Leafs.
I think trade for a RHD...in this case Burns, should not include RHD Holl. Makes no sense to exchange RHD especially at the price of Kerfoot and 2nd rounder.

Burns wasn’t bad last year and played much better after the coaching change, and the whole team sucked last year no reason to dump him low.

Sharks were in the western final 1 year ago, had a really bad year and are well rested they won’t be as bad as people think.
Same with Burns. Plus they are cap strapped for a while no chance they trade and retain. No point.

Sharks easily reject. They arent paying someone 3.5m for 5 years to play on your team for a return of Kerfoot. Add a top prospect or get out

I think his down turn is partially the result of him playing on a terrible Sharks team last year.....I think Holl is a potential trade target or else Leafs risk losing him to Seattle......Kerfoot is replaceable with another UFA.....do not like to give up the second round pick though which I agree with you.

The Sharks need to consider retaining the 3.5 million to allow them to move out Burns and get on with the rebuild ASAP........there is no other way to rebuild their team.

How does this help us? We will be paying 3.5 in 5 years still. We will look for someone to take his full contract for free, or get an actual return for this much retention thanks.
