Détails additionnels:
Neal, a perennial 20 goal scorer (other than the 1yr with Flames), would add some experience to the team as well as offer more protection to their really young core (Hischier, Hughes...) than they have right now.
Niemelainen - a good young defensive prospect

NSH has no need for either player. Maybe they'd take a flyer on Larsson at the deadline if they look like a playoff team, but no chance on Kassian.

Neal’s negative value is probably still at least a 1st (on the lenient side) almost all of his goals came on the PP and his 5 on 5 numbers are unreliable to say the least.

NSH has "no need" (at all?) for a steady veteran RD?

Ellis
Fabbro
Benning
Carrier (listed without side)
Allard

The steady defensive D market was so thin Poile committed money and term to an actual living caveman, seems likely he'd take AL for a mid pick

Those contracts were constructed so that they could be exposed in the SEA draft -- need to meet certain requirements.

But yes, NSH doesn't need a bottom pairing UFA defenseman for a 2nd and 3rd. They likely won't be a playoff team next season, so there is no point in giving up multiple picks like that.

Kind of wondering what young forwards Chiasson will help with on the PP? I mean our youngest forwards are Suzuki (20) and Kotkaniemi (21) every other forward is 25 or older. Chiasson wouldn't be on the PP anyway our PP would be

Tatar-Suzuki-Gallagher
Drouin-Weber

Taffoli-Kotkaniemi-Anderson
Romanov-Petry

No room for Chiasson

2019/20 stats
Nashville Preds;
Goals for - 215
Goals against - 217
Minus 2
Yeah - I can see they would have no need for a goals or defense.

FYI - Kassian would've been the 3rd highest goal scorer for the Preds last year - behind 2 defensemen - Forsberg with 21 goals and Josi with 16

That may be an indication that your team does need someone who can score, besides your defense, and some actual defense.

Those are the ones I was referring to (Suzuki and Kotkaniemi).
Keep in mind that Edmonton had the number 1 power play in the league all last season and Chiasson was a big part of that PP.
Where were the Habs - Oh ya 22nd.
But if you want to stick with the same old, not improve and end up 22nd again, that's your choice.

Kassian would have been tied for 6th in goal production on NSH last year.

And that's with McDavid -- did the same thing with Chiasson too, and now he's a 4th liner when not playing with McDavid...

Yup. Rob Brown looked like a star when he played on Lemieux's line. Kassian's a passenger.

Yeah for sure, Chiasson was the reason Edmonton’s power play was good. Definitely. That’s why on every Oilers ACGM he’s on the first line, totally not on the 4th line or scratched. Toffoli and Anderson combined with the continued development of Suzuki and Kotkaniemi are also not gonna have any impact on improving the Habs PP.

Fwiw a glorified goon and a 4/5 D aren’t gonna help Nashville that much either. They’d be better off signing Duclair or Hoffman and Vatanen or Hamonic. It would be cheaper, not cost any future assets, and likely be better too lol

Ottawa traded off their best PK C in Pageau, but they still have Tierney, Connor Brown, Nick Paul, and Watson. Their PK deficiency is on the defence.

Your right - my bad! Was looking at the wrong list.

Even so - a minus 2 goals for and against for the year, would imply they need help scoring.

I'm sorry where did I say he was THE reason! All I said was a big part - when you've got him being a pain in the a** in front of the goaltender, it helps.
As for the Habs - as I said in a previous response - if they don't want help, let them stay at 22nd worst PP in the league.

Anything would help the Preds at this point. When one of your defenseman is your top scorer - there's a problem.

IF Chiasson REALLY was a huge part of Edmonton's PP success then you would not be trying to pass him off as a top player in the league. Other fans would already know this. Aside from that you said Chiasson is good at standing in front of the net irritating goalies but again we already have one of the best players in the league at doing just that in Gallagher. Plus we now have Anderson to do that on the second unit. So once again your arguement isn't valid. It's like the old adage "you can put lipstick on a pig but it's still not going to be the queen of the prom". Almist every single Oilers ACGM has Chiasson moving somewhere, if he was that good more fans of other teams would want to trade for him. He is a utility player of the same degree as Byron or Weal. He has value but not someone who you trade more than a 4th or 5th for.

I don't think having superstar defensemen is the problem you seem to believe it is. NSH does need more from their forwards, but this isn't the way to do it. Bounce back seasons from their top players under the new coach, giving their top prospects a chance, signing a UFA like Hoffman to a short contract, or taking advantage of cap strapped teams like TBL or VGK would all be options. Giving up assets for a cap dump who can't hit 30 points without McDavid on his line and lots of PP time isn't a good one.
