Doubt Bergeron, Tavares, or Giroux are cut for Gallagher. I would also choose any of Hall, Seguin, Benn, Scheifele, or Couture before him too

Indeed there are better individual options than Gallagher, but he's the perfect complementary player to play with an older Crosby. He's the 2022 Chris Kunitz.

Chabot in Morrissey. Ellis/Spurgeon/Makar for the final spot. Up front, Barzal/Bergeron/Scheifele for Gallagher.

Chris Kunitz already had years of chemistry with Crosby and was coming off a first all star team season and in the middle of another 35 goal campaign. Sid was also in his prime and the best player in the world by a long shot so team Canada knew they had to get him a linemate that complemented their best player

bit of difference.

Not sure what you mean by "Chabot in Morrissey", but as for Spurgeon, if he was going to get the respect he deserves by Team Canada, he'd have been on the 2016 WC team. I already explained Gallagher earlier

I would have Chabot in instead of Morrissey. He's better.

I feel like Stamkos might not make it since he’s been injury riddled and I like Gallagher but I think there’s will be many better options

Love Gallagher, but personally I think Scheifele may be the perfect complement with Marchand and Sid. Guy has played the 4th most minutes per game of all forwards over the last 3 seasons, PPG every single year. Just a workhorse who plays in every single situation. I think he mirrors Bergeron the best if the problem is that Bergeron has continued to slow down this season.

But, I would never ever be mad to see Brendan Gallagher on Team Canada if he is coming off a 30 goal, 65 points+ pace season.

He'd be good, but I wouldn't put him on Crosby's wing. Gallagher is the perfect guy to battle for the puck in the corners and all the other things that a 35 years old Crosby won't do

Scheifele doesn't have any defense in his game, at least recently. Stone is a way better comparison imo

I love Gallagher's game but you are talking about a 5'9 player who's sole purpose is to battle in the corners instead of Crosby. If that is the case Tom Wilson is the clear better choice. There are just far too many better options out there than Gallagher. He may make it as a 13th forward but they wont be intiving him to camp based on "he is the perfect partner for Crosby even though they have never played together."

What does this mean?

Oh for sure, but Stone is already on this team, so looking at other options in this scenario. And no defense is a bit of a stretch. He's no specialist, but he's fine.

And as in if Bergeron's totals continue to drop. If he still stays at the level he showed this season, he's on the team no question imo. But he clearly didn't hit the highs he hit in 18-19 this past season, and players 35 years plus are statistically more likely to decline than have their career vector pop back up again. No knock on him, but we have to remember these olympics are a year and a half away.

I'd want a better 2 way defenseman than Hamilton. I'm grabbing Ekblad and putting him in instead. I don't think he's done developing and would be more focused in the defense side. Or put Ellis in over Hamilton. Makar is the pure offensive stud back there and I'd want him on the top PP.

The fact that Hamilton isn't a good two-way defenseman is a myth. He's probably better than Ekblad right now on both ends, but we'll see how Ekblad develops by 2022

I disagree. He gets lost too often for a player that good, he can be a little soft on board play and players know that when when 'battle' with him. His stick is his best asset and it is really good no doubt. I never said he was a bad 2 way player. He's definitely better than average, but for the purposes of the Olympics I want better decision makers.
