Finally! A trade with an NHL player in it. A fringe NHLer, yes, but an NHLer nonetheless! Timashov has been good in the AHL, so maybe he still has role-player potential. The Trotz-era Islanders always love those. Maybe if they can't sign Matt Martin, Timashov has a shot at #4 LW?
Well, he was a waiver claim by the Red Wings which in essence amounts his value to minuscule if even existent.
Let me rephrase the question: Wings have no cap issues and have plenty of roster space. So is there a reason they didn't get a deal done? Last I heard he was considering playing in Europe this year but that was refuted
Leafs took Tavares from the Islanders, payback is continuing with Lou indirectly getting Timashov from Toronto for nothing. Let’s not forget the Komarov signing too. Take that Leafs!

My guess is they simply didn't value him and his former employer wanted him more. He doesn't have value and there is no sleep to be lost if they just gave him away. Wings also have loads of youth that can take that spot in the lineup without question.

makes 0 sense as Detroit could have used him and Islanders have no need for him lul. Plus Islanders gonna use the rest of that space for Barzel so no idea why they did this
Why are there people upset at this? He's a 24 year old AHL replacement level player guy. They are a dime a dozen.
If anything he should be grateful that DET moved him, as it's clear he wasn't in their plans
