ah yes, why spend 40 million on 4 forwards when you can spend 42 million on 4 forwards and get older and more injury prone at the same time?

tbf, stamkos was literally a goal per game in the playoffs, he'd likely help us get through the first round

Bruh - has no one realized how bad that is for Tampa..
They take a good chunk of cap back - for a 3rd liner they have 0 need for and a late first. It’s not even close for stammer and then it doesn’t even help them in relieving cap.

i mean, it's not a good deal for Stamkos or anything but it literally saves them 5 mill in cap space. Oh, and Kerfoot's a 2nd liner, but yeah.

Oh yeah kerfoot isn’t a top6 player he’s Middle 6 at best, and you see if they trade Stamkos it’s for actual value; here they don’t get that, so than if it’s out of necessity then they would want as much cap relief as possible since that’s the need but they take back a unneeded contract

First time I’ve seen Campbell offered to Ottawa. In a condensed season, I’d take him, but not for a 3rd. I’m not saying he isn’t worth a 3rd, just not to Ottawa.

you do realize that the top part of the middle six is the top six right? and he's, at worst an ok 2nd liner.
As far as the cap thing goes, your exact words were "it doesnt even help them in cap relief" when it clearly does, even if the value sucks

Stop making stuff up. Not sure where you get he has no interest in Toronto as he almost signed here as a UFA.

So when we're determining trade value Kerfoot is a 2nd liner, but when you're making teams he's a 3rd liner when the Leafs only have 5 good top 6 players?

So they go from a 40 goal scorer to an ok middle 6 player for a 1st that they don't need and enough cap to sign Cernak? They don't even save enough to sign Cirelli in this deal.

because sometimes a guy who can be a good 2nd line wing on a team that can better use him as a 3C. What makes more sense, Kerfoot at 2LW with Thornton at 3C or Mikheyev at 2LW with Kerfoot at 3C?

the value of the trade has nothing to do with the fact that they literally save 5 million in cap when the point is "they dont even save any cap"

I think you got your quotes mixed up. It says that no cap 'relief' is provided, as they would still be in a cap bind if they did this trade which is opposed to 'saving cap' which they do, but not significant enough to solve all their problems

Just more cap problems for the Leafs in 21/22 with no expiring UFA contracts and RFAs need to be signed. More silliness getting rid of Holl and depending on Lehoten and Bogosian to be play the whole season. Great not having a 7th NHL Dman on the team
Rangers probably can't handle the 3.5m cap difference.
