But...Brodie is a defensive dman...and is good at it...whereas Gardiner was a (very good) offensive d-man who was just put into the wrong situations on a regular basis, due to the lack of defensive depth on the Leafs.
I'd assume that portion of Leaf fans that always need to have a whipping boy will continue to harp about how Marner is overpaid, Nylander is a bum, and how they should have never signed Tavares.
I'm excited for that same crew, the ones who were wildly excited to get the greatest leader to never win a Stanley Cup (Joe Thornton), and the fastest slow player in the league (Simmonds), will quickly turn on them as well.
