I don't think Lundestrom will make the team right off the bat, so they shouldn't need to protect him. If it were me, I'd protect:

Jones (Assuming Lundestrom doesn't hit the 40 games that he would need to play to be exposed)

This would leave Shattenkirk and Danton Heinen as the main players to be exposed, with Carter Rowney, Nick Deslaurier, Derek Grant, and Jacob Larsson also available. I'm assuming that Kesler would waive his NMC, given that he's never going to play again, and won't be picked. Getzlaf can be resigned after the draft, assuming that he wants to finish his career in Anaheim.

I'd also consider exposing Henrique instead, if Seattle was willing to chip in something.

klef isn't the same player like before so that this point I would take nurse over klef given how durable nurse is

Jets likely want to make a trade with Seattle to keep them off of Berdin and Harkins. Niku is probably traded before expansion draft, Appleton or poolman are the only logical picks for Seattle IMO, unless they didn’t want to make a trade with wpg, then they’d just take Harkins probably.

It's true, the league would need to make a call on if they felt he was ever going to play again. If his career is clearly over that's one thing, if he misses a shortened season but his prospects to come back and play again are good I can't see the rationale for making him exempt.

But Nurse is going to be protected so I don't think that's part of the debate. The Oilers need to protect 3 of Nurse, Klef, Bear and Jones. Whomever they don't protect Seattle takes IMO. If they protect those 4 and McD, Drai one of Turris, poolparty or Yamamoto is available and then you take them. Or you take Nuge and hope you can ink him before free agency starts.
