Absolutly they would, or at least negotiate. Niskanen is gone and they got Myers and possibly Gustafsson on the right side, and Gustafsson isnt even a pure RD. Philly is not gonna want to pay the "elite center" money that Couturier is gonna want, and with Kevin Hayes and Morgan Frost also rounding out the Center role, he can make better name for himself IMO playing as the face of another franchise. Dumba adds another solid right shot on the blue line. Maybe a couple more picks and a top prospect would make it work better, but if I see two players getting swapped, its these two
Dumba - decent 2nd pair OFD
Couts - number one guy
Dumba is kinda whatever and doesn’t really push out any of their guys on D since they’re stacked.
Prov - Myers
Sanheim - gustafsson
Gost/ Hagg - Braun
Dumba only really pushes out the third pair guys and since they just signed gustafsson they clearly peg him as their 4th D for now. So 6mil for a third pair guy is negative value.
^ from my edited comment.
If this trade was even considered (which it isn’t); because Philly is trying to contend for the cup and losing their best player/ center hurts the team more than Dumba brings. So even if they for whatever reason consider this deal - Minny adds:
Dumba
Krill Kaprisov whatever his name is
1st
Likely another 1st/2nd or a decent prospect
Making it an expensive trade for Minny to consider
Philly has no need their D core is set, and unless they move gustafsson to 3rd pair it makes no sense, even then their forward core becomes much weaker to the point where I don’t see them being as good as they are now so why would they want prospects and picks when they’re trying to win.
