NJD if anything needs a vet top 6 to go with Hughes or Hischier. Too bad Hughes had a rough year without help. Classic problem of too soon without the support.

Good question, stuck in an awkward position... He is best at center but when Stamkos is moved to wing he is a wing for us. 2018-2019 he played left wing (right hand shot) and scored 29 goals. He was bounced around last year and just did not click. I thought during the playoffs he would step up playing with Cirelli and Killorn, he did not. Anyone could have picked him up during waivers but no one did. I do believe given a fresh start he is a top six forward. TB is in cap hell so someone will get a pick to pick up his contract.

I’m not opposed to Patches but I think Killorn would be a solid addition to the Devils. He was at the top of the league in shooting percentage in a significant amount of games played and he’s not afraid to get into the dirty areas and get those tip-ins and force play up front. Devils could use that, they did well with Pat Maroon two years ago and he’s more or less the same style.

JVR is the best option, hes a reliable pt producer, big body, can skate, good pp guy to aid Hughes. 41 pts in 59 games on 3rd line last yr.

Its all dependent on the deal really, if NJ just offers middling picks, JVR is still a 5mil player getting 7mil. But if the picks are good or a surplus player (Wood?) is offered, PHI probably retains 1-1.5mil easily, and a JVR at 5mil or 5.5mil at just 30 yrsa old, would be a good pickup for NJ and its young guys.

Kilhorn isn't a bad shout, but Johnson is a real bad investment and probably not the answer

Is it crazy to move Zacha to LW on a line with Hughes and Gusev? Zacha and Gusev played together last year and Zacha provides a big body to get to the front of the net.

Yup exactly what I was thinking. Maroon was great for the Devils so if they could get Killorn for cheap, that would be a good fit.

Or maybe keep Bratt-Zacha-Gusev together who were fantastic together
