Four decent lines, three okay defensive pairing, and an improved goalie tandem. Bring in vets like Hutton, Sutter, and Grabner to fill out the bottom six, give time to the younger players (Smith, Boqvist, Foote, etc.) to develop in the AHL, and to play on the PK.
Team would most likely be out of the playoff race by the trade deadline so, like last year, have a fire-sale at the deadline (Murray, Kulikov, Gusev, Sutter, Zajac, Grabner, Palmieri, Carrick basically whoever hasn't resigned yet) and bring up whoever is doing well in the AHL.
Hope Hischier, Hughes, Holtz, Smith, and Blackwood are ready to lead the team starting 2021-22
He's been in the system and has played with Severson and Subban before. Also I like the addition of Murray and Kulikov but both haven't played a full season in 4-5 years so Mueller and Hutton can fill in if either of them get hurt.
Smith is making the team next year so you don't need Mueller
Ideally, but with Covid, the CHL seasons getting cut short, and a shortened training camp thought it wouldn't be the worst idea to start him in the AHL.
