Basically the cost to take on Tyler Johnson's contract, Would be a 2021 1st round pick plus a 2022 3rd round pick plus one of Katchouk/Foote/Raddysh or ABB in other words extremely expensive for Julien BriseBois to cut him loose.

Doubt if Killorn's M NTC includes Ottawa or any non contenders with cap. Gotta think ALL teams would rather have 5m X 4 in free cap space rather Johnson and a first.
A roster of 20 doesn't work.
Why can't any of Cirelli and Sergachev by traded? Seems like Tampa's only way out of the cap mess and the NTC mess.

I just don't see teams taking on 4 years of 5 mil and only getting a late round 1st.
If I was an owner there is no way that's acceptable to me. Late round 1sts don't cost 20 million because if that's the price no way I'd be buying, I don't care how much money you have. You still have common sense.
McDonagh and Palat seem like the easiest to move. McD because teams always need defense, Palat because it's only 2 years, given, his play has not been great. But 2 years is better than 4-5.

Teams like DET and OTT that have some cap room but are not competing in the next couple years are going to want huge incentives of picks and prospects to take a big $ contract. Even a guy like Killorn whose deal is a little easier on the wallet will have to be packaged if it’s to a non contender. Why spend money to finish 3 spots out of the playoffs if it helps to finish near the bottom, acquire better picks, develop younger players and preserve cap space?

???? So what if a player is signed, he still can be traded. Are you telling me that that 23 players, on each of the NHL 31 teams, can't be traded?.....after all they all have signed contracts.

I wonder if there's something we don't know about Stamkos and his injury. Wouldn't it be crazy if Tampa gets bailed out by stamkos being on LTIR for the season

Well.. for starters, signing a player and immediately trading him makes the GM look like a bonafide c**t. In this case, this is what's happening with Sergachev. If you cant sign him, then trade him. You don't sign a player just to trade him right after he puts pen to paper. Theres a reason why teams can TRADE RFA players, so that they don't have to sign them.

That would be unreal and great for tampa to buy them more time. But, I thnk he's eager to get healthy and will be back.

Makes a lot more sense to trade a player that has signed contract (even if contract was signed in November 2020) than all these Tampa fans thinking a signed NTC player is suddenly comes to waive to play for a crappy team with cap.
