I hate to say it but for oilers I think a case could be made for Kassain over Neal. Neal was on pace for 30 goals before busting up his foot kass on the other hand served two suspensions in a short season. I like kass but I’ve lost some trust in his ability to think before he acts.

Can we all agree that Vlasic's is the worst in the league though?

For the oilers, I personally feel that Kris Russel's contract is the worst, we could have just let him walk in free agency and expose Neal, but idk what Holland is thinking, what if Seattle picks someone else rather than Russell? After all, we can only protect so many players, but if we end up keeping either of them, let's just hope their leadership pays off, no one wants a 4th liner that make 5.75 mill a year

I don't think the leafs actually have a bad contract. Tavares' contract isn't that bad for his production. Age might be a factor though

he might be better than last year imo but due to age and bad defence, he won't be vezina caliber

Little is on LTIR. I don’t think the wheeler contract will really be an issue until the last year or 2. Even then, I still expect him to be a solid 3rd liner (though still overpaid). Chevy has done a good Kobe with contracts during his tenure

Can’t just expose forwards have to have a mix. Russell was signed when he was just to meet requirements but there is less than zero percent chance Seattle considers taking him. His contract extension is very reasonable for a depth veteran that can block a ton of shots play both sides and by all I’ve heard of him is an extremely well liked player in the locker room which is important for a young group. I think your selling Neal short it’s very possible he starts the year next to mcdavid just like last year while younger guys like jp and kahun start in depth roles and earn way to at which point Neal drops down next to turris. I doubt he sees 4th line minutes next year

No, I'm not basing it on his past season. He probably will but he's 31 and has five more years left at $5.875M. It's unlikely he produces as a $5.875M player when he'll be 34-35. Foligno is fine right now for his salary.

I would absolutely try to start Neal with McD again, see if he can give the team a dozen games on a heater. He seems to do that, both to start the season, and with some pretty decent play in the play-ins (despite the overall team sucking). Would be nice so that Pulju and Kass know they really have to work to get that top 6 RW spot too.

Yes it is. Its a lot harder proportionaly to move a 9 mil contract than a 6 mil contract. 9 mil is more than 10% of a teams cap hit.
