This is My Best Case Scenario for The Pens to be a Playoff Team - 3-Team Trade

Description
_________________________________________

*** The Pens current Roster right now are a fringe playoff team and has HUGE holes.
THE 4 MAJOR HOLES:
1)- 3rd Line Center - (I want McCann to stay at LW)
2)- Top 9 Winger (RW)
3)- NHL Caliber Back-Up Goalie
4)- Not even 1 Physical or kind of tough player - Will the Pens be the Softest Team in the History of the NHL??
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

************* {3} - TEAM TRADE ~ "BREAK-DOWN" : [PIT] - [ANA] - [VAN] ****************

[PIT] get :
~ R/W- Ricky Rickardo RAKELL #67 - ($3.79m)
~ C- Adam GAUDETTE #88 - ($950,)
~ G- Anthony STOLARZ #31 - ($750,)

** Pens get that R-Handed shot for the #1 PP unit, Top 6 winger that can play RW or LW, & a Player / Contract I love in RAKELL. Also get a young dynamic 3C in GAUDETTE that is a fav player of mine & could become a lot more than just a 3C in 2 - 3yrs. And a solid #3 Goalie some NHL exp. in STOLARZ who I have liked since his draft yr. PLUS a cut of $3m in Cap Space - Trading Zucker, Riikola, & Sceviour.
__________________________________________
[ANA] get :
~ RW- Jake VIRTANEN #18 - ($2.55m)
~ L/D- Jusso RIIKOLA #50 - ($1.075m)
~ C- Brandon SUTTER #16 - ($4.375m)

** Ducks get a younger RWer in VIRTANEN who is just entering his prime yrs, on a controlled contract after 2yrs, & had more goals than Rakell. A LHD in RIIKOLA coming off a great 1st NHL yr, can play either
side as good, & is a 3rd pairing rite now. A Vet C/RW in SUTTER - cap relief for VAN but is still a solid 3rd liner / good bottom 6 guy & also could be re-traded for picks at Trade Deadline.
__________________________________________
[VAN] get :
~ LW- Jason ZUCKER #16 - ($5.5m)
~ RW- Colton SCEVIOUR #7 - ($1.2m)

** Canucks get that needed Legit Top 6 / Top Line winger in ZUCKER that they lost in Toffoli & a solid bottom 6 R-Handed RWer in SCEVIOUR for all the R-Handed wingers traded away in Virtanen, Gaudette,
& Sutter to cut $1.2m in Cap space.
__________________________________________

*** All Players on LTIR could see time w/ PENS during 20'-21' season.

PIT could throw in a jankowski/Erod/Lafferty/Angello to be a #4C for VAN

The Blues have no interest in that. We have bottom 6 guys and D-men falling out of our ears, and they're all much better than those two guys.

Still doesn’t work for cap reasons. Zucker alone creates issues for next season

Ducks pass easily. A mid six winger, a 3rd pair LHD they already have too many of and a cap dump doesnt make them even slightly interested in moving rakell. And they cant afford to move Stolarz atm unless they get a goalie back

I love how people say “ Detroit pass” or “ANA passes” like they are the GM..lol. Or “LAK want a 3rd for Bernier at the deadline”. Says who? Atleast say something like the GM said they were looking for a 3rd round pick for Bernier. And then link the article. Until you do that, It’s just an opinion of what they want back.

I would never say Pens pass!! No thanks, like I am the GM. I would say, why would the pens do that deal and give examples. Or me and Penguins fans would be happy if the Pens made that trade. I wouldn’t hate it. Or Pens fans would be pissed if that loop-sided deal was made. Not, Penguins Pass! Like I’m the GM and it’s my call.

I don't see them making a move on a goalie. It's not like DeSmith hasn't done the backup job before.

I don't know, this team has been softer before. I think it's hard for them to change that culture because they don't have the players too currently. It can't be one guy. It has to be a cultural shift and I don't see the team leaders being the guys to do that from the coaches to the captains.

It's not like they are CBJ with Foligno or WSH with OV.
You kind of need that guy and a few goons to go with them.
Honestly a team needs 3-4 big guys who are wiling to do the dirty work. One guy isn't going to fix the issue.

I don't know, this team will be making interesting choices soon. If OConner makes it up. If Caufield plays next year, if Gorman makes the team. Björkqvist is another one. Zohorna but I doubt he makes the team.
But you look at some of the kids they got coming. Just OConner, Caufield alone and you are adding two physical 6'3 and 6'4 guys. Legare is a physical player, Poulin is a physical guy given they are on the smaller end aka 6 foot and 6'2.. But they are physical.
Bjorkqvist is another heavy guy if he can ever make his way on. If they can transform their 3rd and 4th lines to physical but fast and some skill they can get somewhere. But it's a ways away. And guys like ZAR would be moved out the door for that to happen. I like ZAR but he's too small to be a physical guy. The same is true with McCann. So they need to sprinkle in 3-4 of these guys to change that culture. You add these guys to a Tanev who is a good hitter, a Legare and a Poulin and you start to have something when guys like Zucker and Kap and Rust are also willing to lay a hit.
You end up with a team with 7-8 guys willing to hit and a few with size willing to drop the gloves if they have to.

But none of that happens when your bottom 6 are McCann, Blueger, ZAR, Tanev etc...
They can play good hockey but other than Tanev none are really physical players like that. I mean ZAR has a bit in him, but like I said, he's small on the NHL level.
The penguins have made an effort to find bigger guys for that bottom 6, thats going to pay off in the next year or two. They will keep blueger and Tanve but I think guys like ZAR are going to be replaces with guys like OConnor. If McCann can't make a jump to center he might be out too unless he really breaks out.
I think they rather have a 6'2 Poulin on the LW than a 5'10 McCann. Given the top 6 stay as is.
Start to see some size on this team.

I agree but I still think Rakell would out perform Zucker w/ Sid or Geno as a Center.

Look what Rakell did when Getzlaf was still a legit top 6 Center.

I think I made the trade just to get some Cap space back & get a real 3C

I agree with all of this!!!! BUT I'd be happy with just 1 at this point, lol.

These ppl on here that say u don't need physical or edgy players anymore are just wrong & U are 100% correct about needing 3 - 4 guys that can hit, take a big hit, will go to front of net to move guys, isn't scared of going to dirty areas, will step up into a scrum, will take a cross check or give cross check, and will absolutely attack a player like a wild dog when they touch 87, 71, 58.

** I am soooo tired of watching 87, 71, 58 all get beat on & then Not 1 single player steps up for them.
It drives me crazy insane to the point of punching my table, like why are we the only NHL team that lets our stars get beat on & let them fight their on battles?? I DON'T GET IT??

I also like ZAR but he frustrates the S**t out of me!!! He will blow up guys & hit hard for 1 game then u won't see him make 1 hit until 15 games later??
And when he plays physical he ends up playing a much better game too??

And when he plays physical he ends up playing a much better game too??

amen brother.
It's one of the reasons they lost in the playoffs. They just pounded on Jake. You can't have a 40 goal winger getting killed. And The Mop was always sprawled out on the ice, so it was basically Crosby the only one on his feet.
That's why they paid so much for Kap 6'2 is harder to push around than 5'9 sheary. Some people just don't get this whole thing though. They think midget wingers are just as good. Once teams realize you can't do anything back, you are in trouble. It is what it is though. But we need a few years probably and by that time, this window is closed.
