I can't see Barzal taking less on a bridge deal than Tkachuk did.

Would it be possible to sign Sorokin to a shorter term deal? 5 years at $5M per is a lot when he hasn’t played a game yet. I’d do 2 years to offset Barzal needing a deal in 3 seasons, and Beauvillier/Pelech/Nelson/Palmieri needing deals in 4 years. 2 years would be when Varly’s contract ends too.

I don’t think the Hawks trade Kubalik. They’re doing some sort of rebuild on the fly and seemingly keeping the vets for one last run. They’re nice pieces, but even at 25 Kubalik seems to be a piece moving forward - especially after a 30 goal rookie season.

Wings will probably not looking to take on a another vet next year as they have players to sign in Zadina, Hronek and a backup goalie. Not sure they want another 6 million dollar pilon.

Take far more then a 2nd round pick to rid Boychuks contract, Try more like a 2021 1st round pick and either a 2022 2nd round pick or one of Bellows/Wilde also included.

Since theyre rebuilding i gave them quantity over quality. I dont want to bridge another player when we dont have to. As for the number that will depend on how he plays obviously but im expecting that level of play from him this season.

Could go to any team looking to take on cap. Picked the wings because they took staal but could be anyone.

Its next offseason when he has 1 year left. Used the staal deal for comparison.

I could see it on a 2 year deal, but Tkachuk's was signed when your future qualifying offer was based on the final year of the contract vs. now, when it's based on AAV (So, Tkachuk's next qualifying offer will be $9 mil, instead of the $6.5 that Barzal's would be in this case).

These were the rumors thatt supposedly he talked to pulock and both agreed to take short term team friendly deals. Pulock did and 3x6.5 was the number i saw as to what the barzal contract would look like. Thats my basis for his deal.
