The issue isn’t how he plays with JT and Matthews. They can play with anyone. Nylander could certainly drive a line too. How do you get 20+ minutes a game to all 3 lines?

He could take his shifts as the 3rd C and also take a few shifts on the top two lines as a winger a few times a game to get his minutes up. Why I want him to be the 3rd C is because it would be one of the best 1,2,3 in the league and would make all three lines super dangerous. Also Tavares is getting older and should be transitioned to wing soon ish then nylander could take over as the number 2 C in a few years

but why would you move him to 3C when you have 2 other guys who are already dancing around it? pushing the depth for no reason makes no sense. If you want to transition him to 2C then just keep him on a line with tavares, they were killing it last year and bumping things sideways would be easier

He would probably score 20-25... and have about 12 assists. He would have to drag that line. Leafs could certainly afford him better linemates.
