If the NHL cancels the season because the players want more money, I really don't know what to say ... if the players were reasonable, they would stop trying to get the ABSOLUTE MOST MONEY POSSIBLE and just play the season. McDavid, Panarin, and Matthews don't need more money, but if they only cut the salaries of the highest paid players, they would complain about being compared to others.

It's quite the opposite actually, the owners already agreed to a number but now they want to hold more. You know you are talking about billionaire owners right?

The season is not going to get cancelled. Sure it’s a tiny speed bump, which might increase tensions between the NHL & the NHLPA a bit, but everything will get figured out.

if the season gets cancelled its because the players agreed to terms back in june to hold the playoffs and now the owners want the players to defer more of their money to next year and beyond. the players are like wait a minute, you agreed to this in june nothing has changed.

lets be real. nobody in this conversation "needs more money" you've got billionaires and millionaires haggling over $$. There was a deal and now on of the parties wants to change the deal. The players aren't asking for more money they're just insisting on not taking less money.

its the Owners wanting more money and wanting the players to get less money which for certain players is kinda bad since league min deals on cut salary and on AHL salary is like an average human money

Owners can suck my ass.

Not every player in the nhl makes millions of dollars. ELC's, vet minimums, other minimum contracts. Take for example someone who just signed a 1 year 800k deal. im sure they absolutely need a significant amount of that. does mcdavid need his whole salary probably not but those guys making the minimum, or guys that are fringe roster players that could make up to that 1m mark or not make close to that in the ahl, yeah ide say they need it.

The MLB floated a similar idea this summer. It didn't go over well with the fans or the players.

not even haggling over $$ its haggling over when the owners get the players revenue kickbacks. The $$$ is going to come to both the players and the owners regardless. the owners want more up front after signing the current cba in june. The players should be pissed and shouldnt go back to the drawing board for the owners. It takes 2 sides to sign a CBA. Owners knew full well there was a chance the season had no fans. They should have hedged further for this year or subsequent years. They didnt thats their fault for being too optomistic. Players are optomistic this 20-21 season will be the only really bad year in terms of revenue shortfalls. Guess we see what happens, but owners are in the wrong here.
